Are YOU Built For COMFORT or SPEED? What's MORE Critical In Your Daily Drive?
Tonight, I found myself driving an Audi SQ5, which is the flavor of the week. And, like most luxury/performance vehicles on offer today, it has a handful of selectable driving modes.

Unlike some automakers, switching between Comfort and Dynamic results in a major difference.

That's because the throttle gets sharper, the vehicle gets noisier, the suspension tightens and the SQ5 lowers itself into place via the air ride. It's all pretty dramatic, actually. While I've been experimenting this week, one thing I've noticed is that I tend to, more often than not, find myself in Dynamic mode over Comfort.

For me, in this vehicle, I just find the overall experience to be more rewarding with more lively driving dynamics. However, I know that we're not all the same in this regard.

So, I've got to ask: On your daily commute or drive, WHICH driving mode do YOU find yourself selecting? Are YOU built for comfort or speed?

Definitely comfort. If you spend a lot of time in you car it's got to be comfort. That being said, there's nothing like the rush of acceleration I get in my S63, all while riding in the lap of luxury.

Of course, there's always room for weekend toys.

All car today can go faster than is legally allowed - since YOU used the word "SPEED". However - I would have used the word ACCELERATION instead. Merging onto highways today in a small 4 cylinder is often taking your life in your hands. So - the ability to accelerate and merge into traffic is very important. THese "Buttons" probably do not really make acceleration better in a major way.

However - I have seen some that make it seem that the Shock absorbers/struts were so RIGID that make the current conditions of most major highways today simply to painful to endure - not performance in any way. Until they decide that the condition of the roads is important in this country - COMFORT or NORMAL is likely to be MY preferred setting for a long trip.

Now - if you are talking about a trip up the California Coast at the Great SUR - that is an entirely different situation. That is where it is nice to have a setting short of Race Track Hard - but still well controlled.

Comfort is more important to me because I'm either in town or driving long distances. Speed is irrelevant on the 405 but when it is a parking lot, comfort is most appreciated. That's one of the reasons I loved the Continental. My current ride is quite nice too.

@xjug1987a a loaded to the gills Kia Stinger GT. I absolutely love it. I've already driven it to Tucumcari and back. Tremendous vehicle.

@xjug1987a It really is too bad that this place doesn't have a behind the scene chat feature because I'd probably enjoy A LOT chatting with you and CanadianComments.

MD: I have viewed a Stinger from a distance and not up close. Looks like a nice car. Enjoy yours.

@ricks0me Thank you. I appreciate that.

Sales are unimpressive of it. It sells about the same or a little more volume at the Alfa Giulia, but the Giulia is a turd for sales, so the Stinger hasn't measured up for sales.

Because I come across a lot of people, the suggestion was that I drive something to try to promote sales, so my choices this round were the Stinger and the Giulia.

The build quality is simply better on the Kia. The refinement is far better as well given that the Kia has a nice V6 and the Giulia has a raspy/thrashy 4 cylinder. God knows the Kia will win on reliability. I went with the Kia.

People in Newport Beach usually like it and then have their jaws drop that it's a Kia. I'm taking it to Coronado in a week and we'll see what impression it makes there.

I typically drive a car 3-6 months and then it either becomes a courtesy car or a CPO.

The BMW X3 M40i destroys the Audi SQ5.
