Mazda3 is a much better choice than this toaster on wheel breakdowners. Hope it makes a climbs on the J.D. powers from 35th place out of 37 nameplates b/c this is really where they are hurting.

Just boosting horsepowers and hoping ppl will buy this crap car is a stupid strategy.

It's a lot better than a Corolla. Reliability isn't everything. I expect small cars to combine "fun" and "frugal"- something the Rabbit has mastered and the Corolla can't seem to grasp. Mazda3 vs. Rabbit is debatable. Both are great choices.

And really, there's no reliability data for the VW. You're just making assumptions. I would assume it's the other way around- this is a more simple car than its problem-laden conterparts, and will probably get better reliability ratings from consumers.

S4Cabriofox you are a living proof that man can live without a brain! J.D. Powers have been on VW's tail for years and like I said being placed on the bottom of the list for the past 20 years or so in reliability does have a big factor on the sales. And that is all I said. Apart from weinerschnettzel and warm beer, the main product of Germany is POS cars at current time, churning out POS from assembly plant from across the Rhine River full of dead fishes and whore houses everywhere.

The Mazda3 is a better car than the Rabbit/Golf. "Fun and Frugal" Well the Rabbit is rated at 23/30 and we know that EPA estimates are always optimistic. The Rabbit isn't that frugal. The GTI is a much better choice because of the better engine (and rated at the same mileage). The Mazda 3 also comes with better equipment (HID, Rain sensing wipers, leather seats) and mileage (even for the upgraded engine).

Reliability - if a person is considering that reliability is big factor for their purchase (most people who buy economy cars) than that person will not find a better choice than the Civic (Of course the Corolla is the king, but it is old and we'll see what happens after the redesign). Plus the resale values of the Civic and 3 are also solid.

Oh the reliability of the Rabbit is definitely not expected to be with the likes of the Corolla. More close to the Ford Focus maybe.

Rabitt reliability, and for the fact of the matter, all new GTIs/Jettas have had very good reliability.

This issue also mention about 2 billion dollar loss from 2003-2005 that VW/Audi suffered in the U.S.

This issue also mention about VW's poor reliability on the J.D. Powers...rated at the bottom of the barrel. Its been this way for 10-15 years, as I could remember..so why acting surprised?

Anyhow..VW placed 35th out of 37 nameplates around the world last year. consistantly at the bottom.

To ask whether VW really has poor reliability is about as thick as it gets on this site.
