Tesla May Have Already Hit The 5,000 Vehicles Per Day Production Goal For Model 3

Amid considerable doubt about its future, production methods and labor practices, Tesla reportedly hit a crucial milestone for the Model 3 sedan today: the elusive and long-sought goal of 5,000 cars produced per week. While the company hasn’t officially confirmed the news, it’s a huge deal if it’s accurate and one that could go a long way toward establishing Tesla’s long-term viability.

The news was first reported by Reuters today, citing two unnamed workers at the factory. The story said the 5,000th Model 3 “finished final quality checks at the Fremont, California” this morning, hours after the midnight goal established by CEO Elon Musk.

Sure he did. Then why does he need another $2,500 deposit from current order holders? This announcement is quite a coincidence.

Whoopee!!!!!

The crucial test for the Model 3 is NOT producing 5000 per week - it is producing Base model cars for the thousands that left deposits on them. I can expect that many of those - being asked for an additional $2500- without a time expectation - and missing out on the Tax incentive (TEsla will surely pass that 200,00 soon) - means that a lot will not wait.

Ten people at my company ordered Model 3 cars on Thursday, Friday last week. The car is apparently still a good deal at $50k-$60k, there is no need to sell $35k versions if the $50k-$60 versions are selling well ...

Every time Tesla declared they hit a daily production landmark in the past, it was done through "funny numbers", and it was not sustained.

In simple terms, they *might* have pulled off a single, 24-hour period, in which they produced 5,000 Model 3s (nudge-nudge, wink-wink), but I'm skeptical that they can sustain this number on a daily average basis over the next quarter. I hope I'm wrong.

Correction: Article states "5,000 units per WEEK", not per day, as this AutoSpies page states.

"Tesla May Have Already Hit The 5,000 Vehicles Per Day Production Goal For Model 3"

No they didn't, since that 5000 goal was a WEEKLY goal, not daily.

They hit 5k over a 7 day period, not extrapolated over a day.

Article should read, "Tesla reports best June production levels EVER, production is up 100% since June of 2017" but all the haters distort the real picture of Tesla. Exposes the sloth at ALL the other companies, even FCA.
