Musks Imposes Mandatory Weekend Shifts And Barks Directions On Production Floor To Meet Model 3 Goals
A tense and short-tempered CEO Elon Musk barked at engineers on the Fremont, Calif., assembly line. Tesla Inc. pulled workers from other departments to keep pumping out the Model 3 electric sedans, disrupting production of the Model S and X lines. And weekend shifts were mandatory.

Tesla pulled out all the stops in the final week of June to meet its goal of making 5,000 Model 3s in a week, according to employees who spoke to Reuters.

It's part of the "smoke and mirrors" so he can proclaim Tesla reached a certain production target for a day or a week. That way of doing business is not sustainable.

Will the workers rebel? History holds a lesson. Years ago when GM Lordstown accelerated the somewhat automated Chevy Vega line up to 120 cars an hour (60 to 70 was the norm) workers rebelled. They tossed flaming oily rags into the cars on the line and slammed the doors with the locks on. Quite a sight as flaming vehicles moved along.

Given how much of a psychotic tyrant the guy is, it amuses me know some ninnies here hold him in high regard.

I'd laugh if Elon kicked them to the curb.

Tesla hit the 5k target that everyone here said it would not hit---the short sellers are running out of excuses and soon their positions will go boom.

Mandatory weekend shifts for existing weekly workers mean LOTS of expensive overtime. SO Musk's solution to his production problem (WHich he still has) is to throw more money he does not have around. No wonder he wants an additional $2500 from the deposit holders.

I also note that we have no way of knowing how many of those have washed out already.

Someone must not have done their research. The $2,500 payment was required since the first Model 3 was sold in July 2017.

In 2018 Tesla is crushing Mercedes, BMW, and Audi in the USA. CRUSHING THEM. It has become the #1-selling luxury brand in the USA. In 2019, Europe & Asia will be conquered by TESLA.

So 5,000 3s/week is still something they can't do on a week in, week out basis. And a CEO going crazy on the line is... strange. And not a preferred way in good business management.

Says who? They just hit 5k for the first time last week. How do you already know this week's numbers before the week is even over?
