Wrong GermanNut. This is in fact an RS6 Avant, undergoing final track testing.

The front-end is the actual production RS6 bumper, entirely undisguised. It's completely, entirely, unquestionably different from the S6 bumper (and of course the A6 front), sporting the classic RS front-end styling already seen on the RS4.

However the new RS style side blades are NOT on this test mule.

As you can see, the RS6 is essentially complete, and ready for production next year. Audi is accelerating all its S and RS production to happen much sooner than previous generations.

The RS6 will debut early next year, followed closely by the TT-S and TT-RS. Also the new A5 coupe is expected to have a near-simultaneous debut with its S5 variant (which is also undergoing final testing). An RS5 will follow just a year later.

Audi is quite serious to continue, and expand, its recent supremacy in the high-performance car segment.

It probably is an RS6 only with an S6 camo, just look at the exhausts. The normal S6 has 4, this one has 2 oval ones. And the front intakes are bigger then those of tthe S6.

Its not a normal S6 thats for sure, maybe tuned by some specialist shop and being tested, but i think it is the real deal

I saw it this weekend at the Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show. It's just not aggressive looking enough for my tastes, and I can't understand why Audi always chooses to offer less power than its competitors (Benz E63 - 512hp, BMW M5-500hp, Audi RS6-458hp)

That was the last-gen Audi RS6, back in 2003. It was actually head and shoulders ahead of the E39 400hp M5 (the 500hp M5 wasn't out yet) in terms of speed, and very close to the 479hp E55 AMG (the E63 wasn't out yet either).

The new RS6 will have closer to 550-575hp, if you even bothered to read the article.

No, this is probably an RS6. The S6 Avant is already on sale- why would an S6 Avant, with camouflage on it, be at the Nürburgring right now?

Obviously, this isn't a finalized bodykit. There's no fog lights, different rims and an overall agression that is more suited to the S6. I have a feeling it's an RS6 Avant in an S6 dress.

But by the looks of it, it's pretty close to production. They even bothered to put the V10 badges on the side sills.

What you saw was a new S6 and the V10 badge makes sense because the car is powered by a V10 borrowed from the Gallardo. The new RS6 will have well over 500hp. Do some research before posting this nonsense!

Yes you can, The 06 S6 has a v10 w/ 435hp. That is probably is what you saw.

This is the RS6 in the S6's body. The Audi S6 is ALREADY on sale for some time all over the world. There would be no reason for Audi to continue to test it on the "Ring" after it has already been put on sale.

Umm, hello...? It's called a pre-production car. The RS6's general shape will be like this, but it will have cooler body panels like the RS4, and hopefully, the S6's cool foglights. The current M5 isn't the class-leader it could've been, and the RS6 will just add insult to injury.

This is not the S6. I repeat this is the RS6. Although it looks like an S6, that is due to the fact that the RS6 is being tested with the body of an S6 wagon, as you can see.

If you look at the rear the car has two oval exhaust pipes.

If you know something about Audi you would know that all S cars, from the S4 to the S6 and the S8 have quad exhausts.

All Audi RS badged cars have two oval exhaust pipes like the RS4 and the previous generation RS6.

This is the RS6 being tested in the body of an S6.

The RS6 will ALSO have a V10 except it will have 520-550 horsepower instead of 435 horsepower found in the S6.

Yes, but after looking at the rear of the car pictured above, I can definitely say that, that car is an RS6 in testing.

No S- cars have two oval exhaust pipes and all RS cars DO have two oval exhaust pipes.

I don't know about this VW S6. I mean't Audi S6. Just look at the Wagon, it does not look like an "Audi". It should just wear the badge of a VW instead. The sedan looks a lot better though.

Your right MDalle. However, at this CURRENT point in time the RS4 will smoke the M3 at the Ring. The new M3 will probably smoke the RS4 so the advantage will be to BMW

At the same time MDalle, the R8 will be no where near as rough and harsh as the ride of the Lamborghini Gallardo.

Not to mention the sloppy Lambo E-gear is reworked for smoother, cleaner and faster shifting in the R8.

What M3? As of now it's all talk, and we all know that talk is cheap. Just to humor you though, will the new M3 be AWD? Of course it won't, and that's why the RS4 will still be the faster car. It won't corner as well, just like the M3 vs S4 right now. The M3 can beat the S4 from 0-60 just barely, but the S4 will dust in on the track. There's plenty of proof out there to back up what I'm saying. All this "upcoming" bs means nothing though until we see tangible results. As of now there is no new M3 and BMW has no timeline for it's release. Until I see one, I won't believe it. If/when it does come out though I may just buy one, but I won't be getting rid of my S4 until the new RS6 comes out.

Here are a few FACTS about the 2008 RS6 that my dealer told me last week. The car is in development and will be out in mid to late 2008. They are not going to advertise it's existance though until the R8 has been out for a little while. Audi thinks that R8 and RS6 buyers are one in the same and they don't want to risk selling fewer R8's by releasing the RS6 around the same time. The car shown above is a half-assed RS6. The exterior is nothing like what the RS6 will actually look like. The new RS6 will have a 550bhp V10, not 525, not 500. It will have 20" wheels and the fenders are going to be flared out accordingly. Think RS4 but a little more aggresive.

Really? That seems a little late. I agree with your top paragraph whole-heartedly... but 2008 is just too late to the game. There will be an E95 AMG with 7,000hp by then.

A little contradictary, are we? First, you state that you don't believe in the new M3 until you see it officially, and then you presumeably make up "facts" about the RS6? There's not a doubt in my mind that it's going to have 550hp, but you knowing this stuff for sure, along with its two-years-away due date, seems a little fishy...

Not made up. The engine itself is already a reality. The 20" wheels quote came from my dealer and sounds perfectly reasonable to me. Like I said, the reason why they are waiting to release the RS6 is because they don't want buyers to ignore the R8. Audi assumes that an R8 buyer would also be interested in the RS6.

Of course they haven't. Leaks happen though from inside the company and bits of info have gotten out from reliable sources. If you're into shipping you're dealing with the finished product. This info is coming from inside. My dealer is from Ingelstadt and he knows someone who works at the factory. None of us really do know for sure until we see it in real life, but the RS6 is a reality, not just a concept, and it could be released before mid-2008. It won't though for the reasons I gave above.

It sure is, I've driven one. So, are you saying that the new M3 is also going to cost over $80K US out the door? Also, by the time this proposed M3 comes around it will be a little late in the game. The RS4 can be bought and driven today. The new M3 is nowhere to be seen and there isn't even an ETA at this point. That said, it's at least a year away and probably more. I'm not going to limit my options though. I may buy a new M3 when it does come out. Unlike many of you Audi vs BMW haters here, I'm a German car fan and I like 'em all for different reasons.
