In this case, the big corporation — Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. — won.

But an attorney for the little guy – people whose vehicles were damaged by rats gnawing on soybean-coated wiring – said he may not be done trying to take another swing at the corporate giant.

Last month, a federal court judge in California granted motions from Toyota to dismiss a class-action lawsuit filed in 2016 against the automaker seeking to force it to cover – under warranty – damage from rodents chewing through insulation for engine wiring that is now soy-based versus petroleum-based. This was a frivolous lawsuit and our country desperately needs legal reform. The ease of suing in civil court is ridiculous. The "little guy" was damaged by a $20 part and will sue for $20M. It really is time for damage awards to be limited solely to the actual amount of the damage. It's time for punitive damages to be be wiped. The world isn't fair or safe, but multi-million-dollar awards don't make it so. I've said this to my attorney friends and then they laugh and say, but how do you think I afford my Mercedes?

Do you always protect billion dollar corporations? I'm sure that the shareholders are in their private jets secure in the fact that they're guys like you are making sure that they make and keep every last cent possible. Way to go!!
