VW Reports a 7.4% Decrease in US Sales for October

Volkswagen of America, Inc. today reported October sales of 15,942 units, a 7.4 percent decrease over October 2005 sales of 17,207. October 2006 sales of Volkswagen’s recently introduced Rabbit were 1,675, comparing very favorably to its Golf predecessor, which posted 650 units for October 2005.

Year to date, Volkswagen sales are up 9.9 percent as compared to last year. Below is a breakdown of the model line for the Volkswagen brand for October 2006.

Answer me this: Why did VW/Audi lose over 2 billion dollars from the sales of 2003 to 2005.

and, some of you call this a blip?

VW business prowess sucks in N.America. Remember VW shut down its factory back in 1997 and on the same year..opens another by Taco Bell restarunt in Mexico?
Like, I said..and I say it again..whether you believe it or not..VW in N. America is going bellyup soon, perhaps not completely but will continue to shrink and they need to focus their sales in China as, I have stated before. Don't insult VW by calling them a GM of Germany.

This number is probably just a blip on the radar.

On the other hand, VW is the GM of Germany. High costs. Labor laws that prohibit downsizing the union workforce. Questionable corporate decision-making (while they were fooling around with that GX3 they rightly canceled, where is the Jetta wagon?).

I'd be really worried if I were a US VW or Audi executive [well that's silly really because I'd never accept such a job] - at a time when the market is doing well [see Toyota, GM, Ford, Nissan, Honda numbers for October] both VW and Audi have sales declines . . . quite pathetic really!

interesting thing VW spends alot on audi while, VW is not focusing on the value type products that made them who they are. I think VW use to bulid a better car than Honda and toyota, now the japanese have the edge and are making alot of money. that phaeton was a huge mistake, they could have used those resourses to create a RAV4 type of suv. I know they have a new tigaun due in 2008, but 2008 is too late to catch up with honda, and toyota.

Also, why would someone buy the Tiguan when it's going to cost more and have more problems than the RAV4? VW doesn't offer compelling answers to these questions. But they do offer 0% financing to sway the uninformed.
