What's The NUMBER 1 Thing You Consider When Buying An Automobile Today?
When shopping for an all-new vehicle, buyers weigh a variety of variables. Of course price matters, as does style and performance.

But, what about resale?

Or safety? Many of today's vehicles are built like tanks and if you're getting a full-size sport-utility vehicle, is safety the utmost concern?

Is reliability a breaking point for you? You'll probably steer clear of Alfa Romeo and Tesla, then.

So, what say YOU, Spies? What's the number one thing you consider when buying an automobile today?

The weather, hate shopping for a car in the rain or snow.

For me - My first priority is a front seat that will accomodate my height comfortably - that is actually hard to find. ANd once I find that seat - will I be able to comfortably use the Pedals is ALSO a priority as well.

However - I could not buy a vehicle just for those reasons. The idea that you would just one top reason for buying a car is a non-starter for me. THere are LOTS of requirements I have for vehicles I buy - I recently added a rear-view camera to that list. I am lucky in that I am capable of repairing almost anything mechanical on a car - and I can diagnose electronics too. The ability to do that (Some manufacturers do not allow all of their data to outside readers) is something I want. I want an easily accessible OIL FIlter -and Oil Plug as well - I do not like having the Oil filter right above a hot exhaust for instance. Access to spark plugs would be nice - although that is harder to find.

YOU might try asking the opposite question - what features do you NOT want.

Reliability, cargo space, good mpg, stick shift, fun to drive and low key design/conservative color that doesn't draw in much attention.

1. Reliability / Downtime in a modern car is 100% inexcusable.

2. Comfort / I do a 300 mile (round trip) drive once a week and California prefers giving money to the lazy rather than fixing roads.

3. Power / My car needs to have point-and-shoot speed.

4. Styling / Because swagger!

Financially, leasing makes more sense to me and buying only when it's a vehicle I wish to retain for 10+ years.

Old school manual transmission. Don't even consider a non manual. The list is shorter now, but I will hold out as long as possible.

I don't have a "number one thing." I have a number of factors that are important to me, and cars being physical products, there are always trade-offs comparing one product to the next.

And the are extreme exceptions. For example, I value fuel economy; not purely to save costs, but because I like efficiency. I also like luxury and comfort. So picture a Rolls-Royce Dawn (convertible). It's superbly luxurious, comfortable, and gorgeous. And it has a thirsty V-12 that delivers amongst the worst fuel economy of any car sold in the US (EPA: 12 MPG city, 18 highway, 14 combined). I'd still get one if I could afford it.

Unfortunately, styling [which I can tolerate] has jumped up to #1 for me.

1. My clubs have to fit in the trunk with the top down.
2. Can't be produced by Ford or GM. I've given them enough money through the years and they have consistently provided me with crap.

Yes, it would be bad form for your victims at the next Antifa "protest" you participate in to see your weapons too soon.

I'm not aware of any Antifa "protests" at my country club. Maybe near where you live?

Ok, Mr. Intelligence, you clearly cannot comprehend sardonic humor. It must be sad to live the bitter, humorless life that you do.

PS: Storing golf balls in your pockets will help you get the ladies. #helpful hint.
