The McLaren 570S blends analogue feedback with digital performance to deliver an experience that's rewarding and challenging in equal measure. It's a bargain in this rarefied market, and there's mischievous black-sheep provocation in owning an Audi with rear-wheel drive, too. That neither the R8 nor its stunning, turbo-free V10 are long for this world lends the RWS still greater appeal. You might also feel more reassured that it's a supercar you can service at your local Audi dealer. On a great stretch of road, and judged on driving dynamics alone, the McLaren is ultimately the more capable car. But the Audi R8 RWS represents something so unique and so unlikely to be repeated that it's the car I'd buy.

Both are incredibly ugly. One looks like a modern-day Mitsubishi Eclipse and the other is an Audi Fiero. I'd go with the Fiero.

I disagree. The 570S is quite snappy in person.

The R8, on the other hand, doesn't stand a chance compared to the first-gen car.

Both are nice to look at and likely a blast to drive but at this mid-life-crisis stage of my life I would rather just have the cash invested in my biz generating a return. If I feel the urge to drive an exotic I will rent one and beat it like a red headed stepchild which is more fun than ownership without the capital outlay, maintenance, depreciation etc..

I can buy a REAL SUpercar - the McClaren
OR I can get a VW made car - from a company that cheated on emissions and tried to hide it. And got caught AGAIN after the first time too.
