SPIED: All-new Photo Of BMW X7 Gives Us A GREAT Idea Of How BIG It Will REALLY Be
We've been wondering for years, "Where is the X7?" Not only did we see the sport-utility vehicle trend rising, the high-end, seven-seater market has been very active for years.

And BMW sat it out for a long, long time.

Finally, the X7 is here. It's been shown in concept form and we've been keeping an eye out on its progress during developmental testing. To us, it's clear that the reveal is extremely close at this point.

That's because we're starting to see the light camouflage come off. In a spy shot nabbed by Palbay, the all-new X7 is caught in a small convoy with the all-new X5 and upcoming X4M. One thing that stands out about this shot is we get a really clear view of how much space there is from the B-pillar back. Note the looooong rear passenger window and the rear door that's larger than the front. It is a proper 7-Series, folks.

When you compare it against the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class side profile, I think it's clear that BMW is prioritizing the second row's comfort over the third row and cargo.

Given the timing, if we're lucky perhaps we'll get a Pebble Beach debut.

This may be the product that saves BMW from irrelevance.

Wow, which BMW exec ran off with your wife?

Believe it or not, consumers had been begging BMW to make a full-size SUV for over a decade. Seeing the unpredictable success of the Escalade, all other automakers thought they needed to have a BoF full-size platform in which to bolt a large SUV model. GM proved the industry wrong when they introduced the Traverse/Outlook/Acadia/Enclave. Consumers didn't need weather-busting truck-based SUVs, crossover SUV aka CUVs would do just fine.

BMW like M-B develops its high-end vehicles with the highest trim/model level in-mind. BMW made the Ghost with the 7er in-mind. So it made sense that they would develop the Cullinan with the X7 in-mind as well.

Big on the outside, but no doubt cramped on the inside with a vestigial 3rd row.

That's so some of its male drivers can relate to it.

Size does not make the difference - there are a lot of Very large SUVs out there.

What BMW needs to have is a LUXURIOUS - PERFORMANCE vehicle - to justify the price. If it is NOT the Ultimate driving machine- people will buy TVRs instead (If they could)

If BMW has brains they will aim the X7 at the S Class because as counterintuitive as that is, it's the money move.

Where the f*ck do you live where Kia Stingers are popular and BMW's are "irrelevant"?

In all the time I've been reading your tripe, I've seen a grand total of 1 Stinger on the road and every 4th or 5th car is a BMW. My perspective may be skewed though, since I live near a major city.

Nah. Your perspective is skewed because you're a hateful bigot. I've spoken with the people in your city. They wish you'd leave, but they don't have the heart to tell you, I'm afraid.

As for BMW's irrelevance, there has been ample discussion here that BMW has let go of being the "ultimate driving machine" and because that was their claim to fame and now it isn't, they are just another also-ran choking on Mercedes and Audi's fumes.

If the number of cars on the road is the test of how much of an ultimate driving machine a car is, then the Camry is clearly a hypersedan.

Your argument is horrible, Camrys on average cost a good $20-40k LESS than the average BMW, which means if there are alot of $50-75k luxury vehicles seen on the road then there is a good chance they are doing something right, as the vast majority of the buying public can't/won't afford to spend that on transportation. As far as being an "also-ran" BMW and Benz are approx. 15k vehicles apart even though Benz has 70 models while BMW has only 48. I won't even mention Audi as they are a good 40k less YTD in sales from BMW. The rest of your post is just a mess.

@DinduNuffin Are you really that stupidly literal? Do you live your life denotatively?

I sat in the RR Cullinan in NYC two weeks ago at the launch party and its gigantically massive - it is tank-like.

My BMW salesperson said he's seen an X7 and said its same size as Cullinan. It's F***ing huge.

In comparison to the X5. How do they compare to the GLS or Navigator or Escalade in size (ext/int)?

The Cullinan is very wide and the pillars are huge - making it very hard to see out of. I was told by the RR rep there, that its as long as the Range Rover-LWB but in person it looks somewhat stubby because it is so wide. It is not a gracefully proportioned vehicle.

Because the hood and the cowl are so high, behind the wheel, it feels like a van with a long hood - kind of like the large Nissan NV Commercial Van. It feels a little claustrophobic like the Hummer H2.

Curious to see how it does.

Putin's Russia RR-copy limo is better proportioned.

A week hardly goes by that I don't see a young driver or a senior pulling out of a parking space tap the rear bumper of these extra large SUV's. If one parks next to you they fill the entire space, stick out into traffic, make it difficult for you or your passenger to open the door wide enough to get in and obstruct your view backing out into traffic. I think the old "mine is bigger than yours" is driving this market segment. I also notice that more often than not that only one person is inside and that the smaller the woman the larger the SUV. Just saying....
