Tesla Ramps Up Delivery Times On Model 3 Orders
Just a few weeks after updating the delivery timelines of all Model 3 versions available to order, Tesla is updating them again to accelerate deliveries for new orders.

Some Model 3 buyers could even get their car in a month.

Just over two weeks ago, Tesla updated the Model 3 options and pricing.

At the same time, it updated the delivery timelines – shifting priority to the performance version with a 2 to 4-month delivery window after confirming the order.

And still there are THOUSANDS of orders placed for Base model that are NOT being fulfilled - having given TESLA essentially an open ended interest FREE loan - but are unlikely to actually ever see their cars until Tesla is profitable and has enough cash to support those productions.

Of course - Musk ALWAYS expected THOSE people to ask for refunds - because he never intended to produce that version to any great extent. AS PT-Barnum has said - there is a sucker born every minute.

I stopped into Tesla Southampton, NY (popup in a cool airstream trailer) and I asked what the fastest delivery Model 3 I could get would be (as a non-reservation holder who would buy the highly optioned $60K Model 3 that is on offer now) and they told me that I could configure one today, put down the deposit and it would be delivered six to nine months from now.

So much for the wait list.

You drove an airstream to a Tesla dealer?

And you're dumb enough to believe in a sales representative. They are as knowledgeable as your typical Mercedes sales rep. They have no idea when they'll receive the next shipment.

You could just check the Tesla website , it provides the same information and is a lot faster than driving yourself into a store.

Not believing or disbelieving - just passing along what I was told by the Tesla employee - you can choose to believe it or not.

The Southampton, NY store is operated out of a parked Airsteam Trailer across the street from 'BMW of the Hamptons" - so no I did not drive my Airstream there (Airtreams are quite cool though), I just enjoyed the Tesla Airstream (coolness MAX).

The data point is that a month ago I went into another NY Tesla store and inquired about the wait time for a Model 3 and was told it was about 2-3 years - so clearly Tesla people have gone to a Tesla sale seminar or similar product training asking them to push the Model 3 and be "optimistic"

Draw your own conclusions, if any.

For a performance Model 3 the wait is like 1-3 months for anyone in the US. Obviously they are going to build/sell all that they can since it is the version with the highest margin.

A $35k Model 3 will happen eventually, but it will be a while I'm sure.

The time for Tesla to get its production headaches solved is rapidly narrowing.

The massive economies of scale enjoyed by VAG, global dealership network, global production facilities and millions of sales per year are looming on the horizon.

Audi's eTron SUV will be on sale this year. Porsche is preparing its all-EV offerings as well. This doesn't even include what Mercedes-Benz might be working on.

The bottom line is the Germans are knocking on Tesla's door and they will show up to the fight well prepared for battle.
