Nissan Claims The Next Gen GT-R Will Be "Disgustingly" Fast

Nissan Claims The Next Gen GT-R Will Be

Nissan launched the GT-R as successor to the high-performance Skyline variant of the same name. Considering the old platform’s reputation as a giant slayer, expectations were incredibly high, but Nissan surpassed them when it launched the GT-R in 2007. The following year, “Godzilla” reached American shores to embarrass most everything on four wheels — getting a little faster every year until it plateaued around 2013.

While still one of the quickest vehicles most people will ever lay their chapped and quivering hands upon, the R35 GT-R is no longer impervious to counterattacks and remains fairly expensive. It’s also getting very old. A technological marvel when it debuted, the GT-R has lost its edge and has gone from a totally unbelievable sports car to one that’s just stunningly impressive.

Every day a faster version of every performance car is announced in petrol or electric form. Beginning to wonder what's the lowest 0-60 or 0-62 time possible and still be road legal. Tesla sports car reported to be coming with a time under 2 seconds!

Last Time I looked - in ALL states there are those rectangular signs with a large TWO DIGIT Number that limits how fast you can go - even if it is NOT that Number on the sign. You can only exceed that number by so much before they stop you. There is no longer ANY state that has NO Speed LImits - and the Highest posted SPeed limit is one stretch of road in Texas at 85Mph. Virtually ALL new cars sold in the USA can exceed the limits by 20 mph or more. So - unless you are racing with a measured track - fast is reduced to acceleration - and your own reflexes. Few have the ability to match a Drag Strip Driver for that.

Give more power and speed to people who don't know how to drive.
Lots of dead bodies......

I absolutely agree. I love fast cars but I know how to drive them. I've gone to performance driving school and I go back for refreshers.

I've angered people at the track for lapping faster in a slower car than they can in the Maserati Super Cretino V16 whatever. I've watched them spin off track and sometimes smack a rail because they don't know how to drive.

GTR drivers are often import tuner boy idiots who don't know how to drive them well. Adding more power to a GTR will make it even more of a laughable cliche than it already is.
