Which Car Or Truck Did You Test Drive Or Own That Was SO Good, You CANNOT Get It Out Of Your Mind?
We at Auto Spies are fortunate and blessed in many ways. Because over the last sixteen years we've driven and owned some pretty amazing vehicles.

So if you're a car lover like us you know that even though there are many good rides out there, only a handful or two out there has the power to be unforgettable.

Like an amazing partner that you become obsessed with because the way they do/did THEIR thing, was unlike anyone else.

As the weekend is upon us, I find as I'm out there on my pleasure drives detoxing from the work week, is when those memories come back to the forefront of my mind.

Thinking about how amazing the times were I had driving them. And the happiness they brought me.

So tell us, WHICH over the last few years have had the ability to do that to you and what made them so special to you?

I have a number of them but I'll start with three to get the ball rolling...these are not ranked in any order, just three from the many that make me yearn to drive them again or reminisce ...

2014-18 Audi RS7- 140MPH never felt so controlled and luxurious at the same time. And the body design to me is timeless.

Current Porsche Macan GTS- It's one sexy little stud. I could snuggle into that alcantara and put endless miles on one of those. It's not a smaller Cayenne, it's a bigger Cayman.

2015-Current Ford F-150 King Ranch 4x4 or Limited- If I had to go the rest of my life with one ride and it had to do it all and transport my family in style this would be my pick.

Tesla Model S- KIDDING!! Great looking exterior but it does NOTHING for me.

Ok Spies, YOUR turn! Discuss! And drive safe and enjoy the weekend!

For the money that Alfa Romeo Giulia Ti was pretty impressive. I had my doubts about Alfa getting back in the market but I would take a chance on it, probably via a lease, but it was great handling and powerful enough to sway me from a BMW 328 or similar German car. None come close to the handling in the Alfa.

The low quality interior was the deal breaker on the Alpha dor me. While handling and power was good, i just could not get past the interior. If the price was a bit lower compared to the competition, then maybe.

@jeffgall But that's the beauty of Alfa's quagmire. Sales are so horridly low that a steep discount can be had for the asking.

Honda Type R was fantastic, coming alive in your hands with handling (light weight) the envy of cars costing 5 times more. Seats, transmission and driving position all spot on. Performance bargain of the decade. After the drive sitting inside I decided to buy it but when I exited to close the deal its looks caused me to walk away. I keep thinking I want that driving experience again but cannot get past the styling!

For a street car - I had the opportunity to drive a NEW Rolls Phantom - and while I had very limited time - I admit that nothing out there approaches it as a Luxury Vehicle - THe Bentley Mulsanne does not - nor does any Mercedes I have driven

However - I had the opportunity to once drive a Top Fuel Dragster of a famous winning driver. THere are not words adequate to describe the thrill of that. And that was LONG ago - and I still remember it as if it happened yesterday. THe track at Racepark is no longer used for Drag Racing now. Once it was the site of the Summernationals.

I have had many cars in my 20+ years of driving, for the most part I don't lament the fact I don't have them anymore, except for the '06 Porsche 911 Carrera S (997) I owned for a season. That car was truly a magical vehicle that transformed ordinary in an extra special experience each and everytime I drove it.

I recently bought a '91 BMW 318is (E30) that creates a similar feeling, albeit at a much slower pace.

My most memorable drive was a black on black '92 964 Turbo complete with the obnoxious whale tail which had around 200 miles on it. The car belonged to a friend of my then boss, but he was kind enough to let me drive it knowing I couldn't even pay for a blown tire if I screwed up. My current 2009 Turbo is faster and more powerful but it doesn't impress like the 964 did. The electronics took the edge out of it, but for very good reasons.

Your 318i also reminds me of good memories around that same time. A girl friend of that time past had a '92 318i, nice car for sure but all I can remember now is the cramped back seats. My car back then was a lowly Mustang LX.

The older gents I hang with remember the cars they had sporty times in. That would include the '51 Nash I had that had fold down seats that made a bed. Sporty times!

LOL My first car was a Mustang Grande. It didn't have fold down seats, but sporty times happened in it with impunity.

Among the cars I owned the highest impact on me was made by a 928S4 I bought new in 1987.
I still keep thinking of it, no other car since, has made such an impression on me. everything about it at the time, the performance, sound, fit and finish, comfort, all of it.
As far as cars test driven?
A Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse I received for a weekend test drive in 2014 in Ramatuelle in South of France.

I had 1 1971 Pinto. I was impressed by the way Ford mounted the gas tank.

I had a 71 Vega GT. Gas tank was in a safe place, but the rust around the upper windshield meant wet knees whenever it rained. Then there were the rusty front fenders and the ultimate heavy oil burning after the iron head aluminum block interface distorted.

@ricks0me Don't tell me you thought the Pinto was a car. Silly boy. It was a car-be-cue. You were supposed to put a side of beef in it and then hit the tail with a baseball bat to begin the cooking process.

I own a 2015 Bentley Continental GTC, a 2018 BMW M760, a 2018 Porsche Panamera Turbo, a 2017 Cadillac Escalade that I leave at another house, my kids cars are Audi's and BMW's, but the absolutle favorite car we own is our 2018 Lincoln Navigator. The Navigator blew us away. We bought the white with Chalet white interior Black Label, and it is so much better than we ever imagined it would be.

About to get a 7-series - what don't you like about it?

I have an older S-Class and then MB S560 trunk is too small for me plus its appearance has gotten droopier 4-years on IMO.

7-Series trunk is HUGE and I like the way it looks.

If you're going to get a 7 series, demand 25% off list. They aren't selling. Play hardball with the dealer.

A buddy of mine ordered a 2001 996 twin turbo from Champion Porsche and it stickered for over $200k and was the most expensive 996 ever built at the time and this was before the ceramic brake option becoming available.

The car was burnt orange on tan with black sticking and birds eye maple. Sounds gross but the car was stunningly original and beautiful albeit cop bait and had one of the first Tubi exhausts and sounded mean as shit. He also optioned his Carrera GT pretty much the same way.

I was driving the other day and saw a 911 GT3 on the local freeway, so I gave chase. The guy let me pass, then followed me, then passed me and motioned me over. I salivated on the GT3 while he salivated on my TVR (running RMF plates). He has a collection of toys. I have a collection of toys. We play to visit each others' toy collections soon. I'm not a 911 fan, but the GT3 was riveting.

I only test drive a vehicle that I'm considering for purchase. By the time my test drive happens, I've done my thorough due diligence, so the drive is basically a formality.

So there's nothing that I've test driven that I don't already own.

Mazda CX-5 def best small SUV I agree and a diesel is coming soon. But the car I can't get out of my mind right now that I test drove recently was the Camaro ZR1. I also drove the GT350 but the power of the Camaro is insane!
