Even more clearer spyshots of the Audi A5 from Edmunds

Thanks to Edmunds, we now have an even better group of spyshots of the upcoming A5 coupe. The car will sport quad exhausts and will have the 350 horsepower 4.2 liter V8 as its engine. There is a very high possibility that the car will have even more horsepower than the 350 figure that is being mentioned.

There will be three transmissions. A classic manual, automatic, and of course Audi's acclaimed DSG.

This car will be a CLK competitor and will feature an engine with the proper horsepower count to give the CLK a run for its money in the performance arena.

Look for a possible RS5 featuring a 500 plus horsepower V10 or a retuned version of the V10s current found in the S6 and S8 to do battle with the upcoming BMW M3.

Why is Audi spending any time, money and engineering effort on this vehicle. Do they have to copy every Mercedes or BMW car segment?

Wouldn't the resources be better spent on developing a smaller SUV and a hard-top convertible for the TT and A4?

Camo for sure. Audi already is making a smaller suv built on the SAME platform, the Q5. Hard top convertible for the A4 would be the hard top convertiblew A5. The TT doesn't need a hard top.

If it's a profitable segment, it only makes sense.

Mercedes and BMW have done their fair share of copying. If it was not for Audi, there would be no S550 4Matic or 530xi right now, among many others. Like all the other luxury brands, Audi keeps the competition on its toes.

They're not copying they just know there's a market for the car, especially since Mercedes dropped the ball with current generation CLK. Additionally, they are developing a smaller suv called the Q5. The convertible TT is on the way, and the A5 cabriolet will be the A4 convertible.

I thought the TT and A4/A5 convertibles will all have cloth/vinyl roofs and not metal like the VW EOS. I think Audi should redirect engineering $ to make their convertibles more suitable for the real world.

Well, this would not only make their convertibles less affordable, but also less practical. You can't fit more than a backpack in the trunk of a hardtop when it has its roof down. Your bias is keeping you from seeing clearly.

Ask the majority of convertible buyers - apparently worldwide more hardtop convertibles are sold than soft-top convertibles. Is Audi in business to make money and increase sales or not?

Really? More hardtop convertibles are sold worldwide than soft-tops? I didn't realize so many hardtop convertibles were available? Do you have some proof of that? My guess is you're pulling that stat out of your a$$
