Audi Next Gen Q3 Images Leak Online - Can It Take Down The X1 And GLA?

The second-generation Audi Q3 has leaked online, ahead of its official reveal later this week. A complete set of images appeared on the CNET website hours before the embargo – revealing the car in full. Pictures have surfaced both of the interior and exterior, giving us a undiguised view of the BMW X1 and Mercedes GLA rival.

The pictures reveal Audi has taken an evolutionary approach to the Q3's design, with a larger single-frame grille and slim headlights. It's a design language exhibited on the latest Audi Q8, albeit in a smaller, more mainstream package. However, the rear end doesn't feature a full width LED taillight bar spanning the tailgate, and instead has separate lighting clusters similar to the ones used on the all-new A1 supermini.

The X1 in a heartbeat. The GLA in two heartbeats. It's brash like a Mercedes and just "Lexus" enough to have that trendy feel that the X2 also pulls off nicely without being too Lexus. This should cause sales to increase.

This new Q3 looks great. It adds the badly updated interior the current model so desperately needed.

Watch out BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA! Despite the current Q3 being so old and the new A8, A7 and A6 yet to go on sale in the U.S., Audi has still managed positive monthly sales growth every month so far.

You act like the A8 will sell well. #delusional

The 2019 A8 should sell better than the current version. The combined sales of the A6, A7, A8 and new Q3 will likely be enough to give Audi's global sales a nice boost for the rest of this year and into 2019.

So the A8 will sell 14 units instead of the customary 12 due to the enthusiasm of buyers. Got it.

The A6/7/8 are all marginal sellers.

From the pictures it looks taller than the other two. Both the X1 and the GLA are more like station wagons as the driver is barely higher than a sedan. My wife wants a tall small crossover and X1 and GLA don't pass that test.

You might try a Land Rover Discovery. Our Evoque has been a fine vehicle @60k miles so far.

Another winner from Audi. Should have no trouble leading sales in its category.

Give me a Volvo XC40 over this any day of the week. That front-end styling screams "look at me' in a desperate kind of way just like Lexus. I'd buy a Tiguan for less money but for more room and a better laid-out interior. And frankly, more handsome styling.

Having driven all 3 current models, the Q3 is a better car to me because it feels solid. The GLA & X1 both feel very flimsy to drive with cheap interior. Q3 also offer much more standard equipment like pano roof, real leather seats, better headlights, rear camera with sensor... All of these options would make the GLA & X1 like $10k more.

Agree on the interior comments. The BMW interiors with all the hard plastic and pleather (plastic-leather) seats are a turn off for me. Recently rented a Toyota Corolla on a trip and was surprised by the softer plastic dash and interior bits as well as standard safety features like Adaptive Cruise, Lane Departure, Braking etc. It was still a cheap noisy ride we'd never own, but if Toyota can put these features in standard and use nicer plastics why can't BMW et.al. do the same?

They should do quite well with it. Outside it looks just as good as the competition. The interior is much better than the X1 or GLA.

I like it, it looks as if it could be a class leader.

It looks like a huge improvement over the previous version. And now that it has increased in size they can slot in a Q2 beneath it.

as long as they fix the sloppy shifts at low speeds and detuned 2.0T. I know people who shopped the Q3 against the X1 and they mainly bought the X1 for better pickup and smoother shifts around town.
