Buick Ready To Launch Regal Avenir - Who Should Be Worried?

As you might have heard, Buick’s Avenir luxury sub-brand is off to a good start. Playing the same tune written by GMC’s Denali line, “Avenir” debuted on the second-generation Enclave crossover for 2018, then bestowed its luxurious trappings on the LaCrosse sedan.

According to Automotive News, Enclave sales are up 15 percent over the first half of 2018, with the Avenir trim counting for 25 percent of all units sold. That’s money in Buick’s pocket, as the Avenir badge adds roughly $14k to the model’s base MSRP. Average Enclave transaction prices are up $5,000 from a year prior.

Buick boss Duncan Aldred said last winter that the case for Avenir would be made on a vehicle-by-vehicle basis, adding that we should expect to see more models add the new trim (and price point) in the future. It now looks like the redesigned Regal will be the third Avenir model.

Cadillac, unless GM works hard to spruce up the brand and differentiate it sufficiently.

Literally no one should be worried. The Regal is a nice car but it's not better than a Malibu and price wise it is close to the simply better Lacrosse. I'd spend the extra amount to get the Lacrosse if owning a Buick sedan was my life's mission.

I'd rather they put the Avista into production to be honest.

It really is time to relegate Buick to China and have GM USA be Chevy, Cadillac, and Corvette (as a brand).

A Cadillac Deville aimed at the Lexus ES could easily supplant the Regal and Lacrosse and would be a far better product for volume than the ill-advised CT4 3? that is supposedly in the pipeline which is to be aimed at the non-existent volume of the BMW 2 Series.

Actually - there are still a number of Buicks still made in North America - and I would NOT want to give up those jobs - since there is almost no additional development cost. I do not believe that all these Buick/GMC dealers would survive selling ONLY GMC trucks as well. Yes - my father's other family drive Buicks - most are medical professionals.

As far as the new small Cadillac - I believe it will target the CLA- and will actually be a superior car to that thing.

Buick is literally the only one that needs to be worried. No one else gives a rats ass.

Breaking news: I did see a Buick on the road today - it was being driven by an old man at the post office.

Did he smell of vitamin B12 and did the car have a bumper sticker that said "I love my minivan"?

Chevy must be quaking in their boots from the onslaught from Buick.

I'm with you. I don't understand the purpose of Buick--or GMC for that matter--in 2018 GM-land.
