Model S and Model X Adopting Minimalist Model 3 Like Interior - Is That The Right Call?

Whether or not you like the minimalist interior of the Tesla Model 3, the design is here to stay and will soon be introduced into the Model S and Model X.

Documents obtained by Electrek offer a look at the interior that’ll reportedly be featured in the facelifted Model S and Model X. Using the word ‘sparse’ to describe the revised cabins doesn’t even begin to accurately encapsulate just how simple they are.

Hey Elon we can bolt the Model 3 interior into the S and X and call it an update.

I hate to say that I'm disappointed... but I'm a little disappointed. After waiting 6 years for a full interior refresh, I expected a bit more WOW-factor in the new design. I would have liked to keep the main screen vertical and a full-sized secondary screen. They could also use the opportunity to fully minimize the interior and add extra cubic feet of space while reducing weight--the dash is still larger than it needs to be. I hope the final design will step it up a bit more.

Supposed leaked renders on this site: https://electrek.co/2018/07/30/tesla-model-s-x-interior-refresh-exclusive-first-look/

How does that make any sense?

That's idiotic--if I worked for him, why would I post a negative comment...

Funny how the partisan hacks writing nonsense here seem to think the Model 3 interior is an “embarassment” ...when actually in real life out in the real world people stop me and say how cool the interior is with the long wood strip across the dash and the minimalist design. A friend who is a VP of Design at a major high end apparel company was blown away with the quality of the design. The telling sign that Tesla has a major hit is the young people’s reaction- this is the coolest car on the road now. The necks almost break as I drive by and elbows their dad lol.

Who the hell cares if a clothes designer likes a car design He doesn't have unique insight into car design. It seems you are just salty because you paid top dollar for a car built in a tent.

Not to mention the partisan hacks paid by Elon to be wet cheerleaders for Tesla who cannot accept truth.

And some people go wow over houses like Frank Lloyd Wright designed. Then they live in them and find out all the issues they have with the homes impracticality and maintenance issues. Minimalism appeals to some people, but that market tends not to be mainstream.

the neck breaking is correctly attributed to the unicorn syndrome. just surprised to actually see a physical model 3 and not a cheap render.

As autonomy takes over (and it will take over, Waymo is already doing autonomous rides with no safety driver in Phoenix) -- the screen WILL be the focal point on your drive. After you get used to it, there is no going back to physical buttons much like smartphones.

Minimalist is the aesthetic most Millennials and younger are going for these days. The more I sit in Model 3s, the more I like it. I especially like the white interior on the 3, but haven't seen one in person yet.

Telsa is like that person that has no taste and places a 60 inch tv into a living room that isn't large enough to hold it. The tv then becomes the focal point of the whole room and demonstrates to everyone that comes into the home that the owner has horrible taste.

The minimalist approach to the Model 3 Interior - as far as I know - has NOT spread to any other major brand. AS far as I am concerned - this is not an aesthetics exercise - it was just another way to make the car CHEAPER to produce - and it DOES LOOK CHEAP. It simply reinforces the Model three as being an ENTRY LEVEL vehicle - is not anything but 3rd class - not premium at all. And now that it DEFINES TESLA - based on sales - it establishes TEsla as an ENTRY LEVEL car company - and reduces the desirability of other cars in their stable.

You know who else has a minimalist approach? Apple, the largest and most profitable company in the world right now. This is the direction most tech products will go in the next few years and guess what... cars are now tech.

Tom-Don't you think this is really an early design for the Spacex Dragon crew capsule? That's where this interior belongs.

Nothing like controls as difficult as possible to use while driving. Nothing beats adding complexity.
