DRIVEN: 2019 Acura RDX, Have They FINALLY Hit A Homerun?
When the first Acura RDX arrived in 2006, the idea of a small luxury SUV with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine was something of a novelty. How times change. Americans are all-too-familiar with that formula now, and Acura clearly wanted to go big to ensure that its third-generation RDX—among its most popular models— didn’t get lost in the SUV shuffle.

I agree - the New RDX is easily superior to the Lexus-

Acura got the overall size & exterior proportions right. The RDX has no bad viewing angles & the interior is what we'd expect from brand.

...ok the interior is a little weird - referring to the center console. They wasted a lot of space on making the gear selector huge & the main feature. Kinda like the designers got a bit lazy or unfocused.

For a Honda it's beautifully styled. Independent of that it's a "B" because it still has silly, fussy lines that detract. The fact that this came from the minds that brought us the Crosstour, the ZDX, the overdone current Civic, and the ugly new Accord just says that someone inside Honda's styling studios knows something.

This new RDX is a good excuse to make a new ZDX...coupe-type CUV.

It's a very well-executed SUV in all aspects and should compete well in its segment. It's definitely a strong Asian alternative to the mostly European competition and presents a nice value, comparatively.

I literally saw one being towed the other day. It was the dealer courtesy vehicle too.

they fixed the front end and ruined the back... I like it overall though and would shop it if I was in the market for something in that segment.

This is definitely a homerun for Acura. I just purchased the 2019 Acura RDX a few weeks ago and am just stunned with how it looks inside and outside. I really think it's the nicest looking SUV in its segment outside of the F-Pace and RR Velar (if the Velar is considered in its segment). And the inside is way more upscale than any Acura I have seen before. My only complaint is that I wish the city MPGs were higher or they offered a sports-hybrid option now like they do with the MDX.

Unless something changed, the F-Pace and the Velar are not in that segment. You should think RX and QX.

I saw one this morning for the first time in the wild. It was blue and it caught my eye immediately. I looks good. I might go and check it out for fun this weekend if it ever stops raining.

No they have not...I'm still laughing at Honda trying to put its engine in the McLaren formula 1 car... there is just nothing exceptional about Honda

Looks like a good entry for Acura. They will find a good number of buyers as long as the pricing is right. They need to be at least $20/mo lower than Lexus and $50+ a month lower than BMW/Audi/MB in the all important lease price in this segment.

I think for prior Acuras you may be right, but most reviews of the new RDX put it on par or ahead of the Germans...including luxury, performance, space and technology. The only arena the RDX is behind is mpgs and that is close.

It's decent but the competition is better.

People that BUY cars tend to keep them far longer than people who RENT them - regardless of the make involved. (And I am assuming you meant LEASE them). That is simply the economics of a car loan. ANd if you really meant RENT - then the article is worthless - few people have long term real rentals.

And the average car is now over 11.8 years old in the road.

Some of these polls and articles tell us meaningless things

@Joneshamilton, but with respect to premium cars, you're money ahead to lease given the precipitous depreciation on a buy.

My first and only experience driving one was overall nice but the AC couldn't cool me or the car down on a 100 degree day for way too long... I will have to re-test to see if it was a fluke or if the AC system is just disappointing generally, anyone else experience that?

Yet another example of Honda's visually challenged downward spiral.
