Ford Begins Paying Owners $1000 To Have Recalled Ranger Trucks Fixed
Last winter Ford issued a “do not drive” warning to owners of 2006 Ranger pickup trucks because of potentially defective (and fatal) Takata airbag inflators. A total of 36,330 of the trucks were initially issued the do not drive order, but this figure was later adjusted to 33,320. However, according to Automotive News and Ford spokeswoman Elizabeth Weigandt, the automaker has only repaired about 75 percent of the recalled trucks. Therefore, it’s decided to take additional action in order to prevent possible serious injury to drivers.

The first thing I would do is spend the money to determine how many of these trucks are no longer on the road - a 2006 truck is already 12 years old and it is likely quite a number of them do not survive.

I can see Matt roaming through Junkyards looking for these trucks - removing the now useless airbags - and sending them in for the $1000 for his dealership! (Plus they get a replacement air-bad unit as well)

As usual, the resident alcoholic spews his "dumbassery". TomM go back to the bottle, climb in, and stay there.

The old fool says: "The first thing I would do is spend the money to determine how many of these trucks are no longer on the road..." The vehicles must be street registered as a requirement ALREADY. Just because you are too lazy to do any research does not mean that your mutterings are of importance. Of course your hubris makes you think that only you can see the obvious.

And yes, I am registering every junked Ranger I can find so as to get $1K that I'll never see in my pocket. Yeah, that's logical.

Is a 2006 Ford Ranger even worth a grand, Ford should just buy them, it would probably be cheaper.

Indeed. Most Rangers were driven until they died. Finding a Ranger these days isn't easy.
