IIHS Study Says You Should NEVER Give Full Control To Your Self Driving Vehicle
We’ve aired our grievances about the fallibility of semi-autonomous driving features time and again, and a new study out this week confirms the fact: Cars with driver-assist systems that include things like lane-keep and auto-steering and braking may not see stopped vehicles. Worse, reports the Associated Press, they could even steer you into a crash.

I already drive my car myself - I have always had a Self-driving car - why would I need to spend to have a computer do what I already am capable of doing without problems?

IN addition - there remains NO state in the union in which a "autonomous" vehicle can completely take over for the driver - unless the driver remains available to take over in case of emergency. These proposed cars without steering wheels are not legal - not will they become so for decades. Imagine a situation where the computer stops working while you are crossing the Golden Gate Bridge - and the car suddenly swerved to the right. !

Waymo is using autonomous cars with no safety driver in Arizona right now. There is a steering wheel, but no one behind the seat for a certain percentage of trips. It will not be decades but a few years before Waymo (and perhaps a few auto manufacturers) destroy the taxi and carsharing industry.
