Product Revival Pushes Lincoln For More Stand Alone Stores
Lincoln is asking its dealers in the 30 top U.S. luxury markets to build stand-alone stores, reversing an effort to consolidate with the Ford brand, after a product revival has given Lincoln confidence that it can challenge top-tier makes.

Lincoln executives say stand-alone stores regularly outsell dualed dealerships and are responsible for most of Lincoln's sales gains in recent years. They cite internal and external surveys concluding that luxury customers prefer buying in a dedicated space.

OF course a stand alone store has to sell more of its single brand - it has to make a profit - and has no other new cars to help.

I don't think that this is going to go over well except in the Major market areas. I also note that many Lincoln dealers have added Foreign brands to make ends meet too.

so once in 30 years they come out with a car that sells... and now dealers must make it a standalone store... ask again in 20 years with good products throughout because that's the minimum scale for building costs.

I predict that stand alone dealers will be replaced by more of an Amazon "you can have anything" model.
