New Small GMC Granite Crossover Caught Testing In The Wild

A new entry-level crossover from GMC is getting closer to production.

Spy photographers caught a heavily camouflaged version of the vehicle -- it is smaller than the compact GMC Terrain -- testing for the first time in Arizona.

The baby GMC is expected to be based on GM's Gamma-2 architecture that underpins the Buick Encore, Chevrolet Spark and Chevrolet Trax in the U.S.

What is actually happening is GM is Badge engineering an existing Crossover for the GMC line to be sold along side the Buick Version - where most GMC dealers are combined with Buick.

In some cases - GM has done a reasonable job of differentiating stablemates like this through different styling themes - THe Equinox for instance - and the GMC Terrain do not look much alike. But it still begs as to why GMC reduced the size of the ACADIA - supposedly because the Buick Dealers already had the Enclave.

Please don't even bother with the "badge engineering" shots at GM. Toyota & Honda are prominently doing the EXACT SAME THING with current & planned vehicles. Get over it.

When you got the collection of brands that GM has & with core consumers that prefer to purchase only a certain brand...don't be silly, keep it simple. The general consumer isn't buying SUV/CUV's b/c they're particularly unique vehicles. They buy them b/c they're NOT a car or a wagon or a hatch.
