Tesla Still Claims That A $35,000 Model 3 Is In The Pipeline

One of the biggest complaints about the Tesla Model 3 is that it is yet to be available at the promised based price of $35,000.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk says that it is the priority right now and a new battery module design is going to enable the production of the relatively affordable electric car.

The Model 3 is a lot of things right now, but affordable is not one of them.

The bumper which fill with water and rip off are just so embarrassing on so many levels but the Tesla fan base just won't care. Tesla is not a real car company.

BTW there is radio silence now on Musk's (ahem #securitiesfraud?) announcement that it would be sold for $420/share and taken private because it prompted the investing public to tell Tesla management privately, that Tesla's only really only worth about $10 - $20 million as a private company based on its non-existent cash flow. Musk's idiocy has force many uncomfortable conversations that could have been left 'unsaid' 10 days ago but which are now out in the open.

Again - this is MUSK admitting that it could not produce a profitable Model 3 at $35,000 - at introduction - and that they NEEDED to force big options to make the car more expensive and maybe profitable.

Today - with only a few competitors - the worth of Tesla in overinflated tremendously. Tesla is NOT worth more than General Motors or Ford.

In 3 years - when there will be a number of competitors on the market with EVs - and TESLA will not have a full tax rebate to offer - Tesla 's market value will be based on profit - something I don't think it will be able to offer much of with competition.

Tesla Still Claims That A $35,000 Model 3 was always a PipeDream.

How many people actually buy a base car with 0 upgrades? Anyone in the car industry know the %. I've never bought a care without any upgrades in my life.

If they can make a $35k Model 3, great. If not and they continue to deliver 5-6k a week at an ASP of $50k, that works for me also as a shareholder. I'd rather they only sell the base version if 1.) it is profitable 2.) if they don't compromise the features that are part of the brand (pano roof).

If they do make it, I don't think it will last long--like the Model S 40.

So 2 bumpers fell off out of 50,000 cars, one of which was driven in a flood. Not a disaster yet.
