Fear Of Self Driving Technology Rises As Public Becomes More Educated Of Limitations
Increasing awareness of self-driving vehicles is fueling apprehension about the safety of the technology, a new survey reveals.

Nearly half of the 1,250 consumers surveyed said they would never buy a Level 5 (or fully autonomous) vehicle, according to a Cox Automotive consumer attitudes study released Thursday. That’s up from 30 percent of the 2,264 people polled two years ago.

AS of today - there is still NO state that allows fully autonomous cars without a "Driver" available to take over in case of emergency. Even trains require this as well.

Eventually - there will be tech that will prevent a driver from texting while in the drivers' seat as well.

But if they are that stupid as to believe in a flat earth that is only less than 6000 years old - they should be prevented from getting driver's licenses completely anyway. ANd if they are that stupid - how do they figure out how to text on a smart phone anyway?

Sorry Tom, that is not true. Arizona allows self-driving cars with no safety driver and Waymo HAS already begun doing a limited number of trips without safety drivers without issue.

Waymo is going to expand trials (with safety drivers) to California and the east coast later this year, and is planning to launch a full service sans safety driver by the end of this year in Arizona and likely next year to other parts of the US as laws allow for it.

Self-driving cars are here, today, and they will rapidly dominate the market as safety concerns are addressed.

Most consumers also said they would never buy cell phones. Without a doubt, in 5 years most people will be riding in self-driving cars (both owned and rented as needed).
