NAME and SHAME! What's Your Number ONE Auto-related Pet Peeve In 2018?
In the world of autos there's a multitude of things that can be frustrating to see. While we're firm believers in buyers of any product being able to change them as the owners see fit, one has to stop every now and then to simply ask "Why?"

For some cases, it's not a matter of a poor modification. It's how a vehicle is being used or if a function is purposefully being used incorrectly to show off.

Take, for example, how many owners of high-performance vehicles are purposely tuning their autos so that the vehicles will have an extremely pronounced series of "pops and bangs," on the overrun.

Or, for example, my favorite. Owners of vehicles equipped with spoilers that deploy at high speeds to help with stability via the power of downforce. Well, some geniuses have their spoilers deployed at all times "for the look."

That being said, I am curious, Spies: What's your number ONE auto-related pet peeve in 2018?

Remember, it's time to NAME and SHAME!

The price of options on a Porsche is shameful.

The ubiquitous turbo 4 in everything. Someone do a small I6 or V6 or V4 or something...

Oh and the Giulia platform that is all new :) not a Merc/Dodge hand me down.

I have two

1 - THe loss of FORD as a true AMERICAN CAR company. When what is essentially the company of the founder of the Great American Mass Produced CAR admits that it HAS no idea how to make cars that the American public will buy - so it is retreating into making that are classified as Trucks for the most part - something is desperately wrong

2 - The loss of the Naturally aspirated Motor - which for a Century or more has been the basis for Everything from little almost cars to Huge Luxury ones - will be something we regret. Adding twin turbocharging to everything creates additional complexities that already have shown to be less reliable - and cost a fortune when they break. THere is nothing like a naturally aspirated V-8 or V-12 engine that these new mini-engines can duplicate. The fact is- even the v-12s in my Mercedes and Maybach are turbo - and they will never actually duplicate that silky smoothness that the Jaguar V-12 or yesteryear had. Yes - even a V-12 Turbo is something special -but it is not the same.

I would not pin it only on Asian cars, but right now they seem to be in the lead. I hate the headlights and tail lights that bulge out like some kind of wart or something.

Now why did you go and say that? Now he'll write an essay dripping with hate speech and a quote from an anti-semitic Jew.

Some idiot automotive journos who can't resist from inserting disparaging political remarks according to their own personal views (that I don't care to read about when perusing a new car test review).

Got 2.
1) People who forget it's their responsibility to maintain the car regardless of what button they push on the dash.

I'm not a Tesla fanboy, but..
2)why do people have such hate on Tesla and want them to fail? With the loss of Pontiac, Plymouth, Mercury and Olds, why is no-one supporting this US brand?

K-band based radar for blind spot warning systems- Makes my detector go nuts with multiple sources. Valentine now has junk-K rejection technology which works for some of these systems (BMW, Mercedes, GM, Volvo among others), but not Acura/Honda and Mazda and my radar detector has become a new car detector for these brands that emit this frequency in a way that causes a false alarm continuously.

I don't know if anyone has noticed - but it seems that Luxury cars have not progressed at all for the last 60 years. WHile not my number ONE pet peeve - I have always wondered why manufacturers of High Priced Luxury cars are unable to make turn signals that work! Seems that is far less of a problem with less expensive cars.

All the auto negativism and doomsday predictions are my pet peeves. I think we are living in an automotive renaissance. We have some incredible new vehicles with amazing capabilities on our hands. We have historic restorations that blow my mind. We have customs and mods that not only perform and look amazing, but also last. The ability to model, prototype, and deploy new tech has never been at this level, has never had such sophistication, and has never been so accessible. Cheer up folks!
