VIDEO: Just After The New York Times Interview Publishes, Elon Musk Talks Tesla With MKBHD — Says $25k Tesla Possible In 3-4 Years
Last week's published piece by The New York Times, which spoke directly with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, was thought provoking. Mostly because it showed us a side of Musk that hadn't been really shown before.

There was vulnerability. A lot of it.

While I could be cynical and ask if that was a public relations ploy, and I certainly could chastise Musk for blaming short sellers for Tesla's problems, it was an interesting read. And, frankly, concerning.

Is the clock running out? Is Musk cracking? What's the next shoe to drop?

Just after that interview printed, well-known technology reviewer/YouTuber Marques Brownlee published an in-person interview with Musk as they talked tech and Tesla.

The sound byte getting attention comes when Brownlee asks if there is a market for a cheaper electric vehicle. Musk notes that there is and that if Tesla worked really hard, maybe it would be possible to see something in three to four years.

Check it out, below.

I don't think he can keep the value of a 3-4 year old used Tesla up at that level

Fool me once, shame on you! Fool me twice, shame on me! Not buying his con to calm market and entice more capital until he delivers on past promises. 120 hour work weeks not the solution and may account for his spinning out of control recently. He needs to step back and assess the current situation and near term prospects as well as take council and input from others...though he seems incapable of slowing down, refection and need to consider others' point of view. He cannot keep up the pace for long without some negative effect on his decision making.

Jim Cramer states Elon needs a month vacation, while there are editorials saying he needs to be replaced. Sadly entrepreneurs like Musk view the company as their child and when its in trouble they'll go all in. Unfortunately it's like the father who drowns while attempting to save his child. The stock is down further today and one analyst changed his price target to $195. Not looking good.

$25k Tesla Possible In 3-4 Years

This is a true statement: Tesla could very well be worth $25,000 in 3 years.

If they can do a $35k car sometime in 2019 at a profit, a $25k compact should be possible in that timeline. Over 4 years, a 40 KWh pack will be $3,500 less than a 50 KWh pack today. Pop in the target margin, and nearly half the $10k cost reduction is there in the battery. Factor in less material from the smaller size, smaller motors, and manufacturing optimizations--might be doable by 2022.
