Will That Work? London To Limit Some Street Traffic To EV And Low Emission Vehicles Only

Non-electric vehicles could be banned from a “low emission” street in the City of London in a pilot project aimed at cutting air pollution.

London’s financial centre is home to a number of nitrogen dioxide pollution hotspots, which are exacerbated by the area’s tall buildings and narrow streets.

Can't be popular but might be necessary.

It's just a manifestation of the socialist-fascist nanny state that despises personal freedoms.

@MD Actually they are splitting the difference. Harsh to ban all cars and or motorized vehicles from London, but more reasonable to open up the rules to BEV's and Hybrids and PZERO ICE cars. A balanced approach is usually the best one.

You obviously don't live in a dense city with a lot of pollution. Your perspective might be different if you were breathing cancer all day.

Any of you worldly geniuses ever lived and worked in London? Or are all your opinions of the city gleaned from Alex Jones?

Carlos don't believe the fake news media. London had 116 murders in 2017 compared to new York's 290. What the fake news media forgets to mention is the moslem mayor conversion factor of 3x. So that 116 is really 348.

Sorry - but this is one that does not make sense. Air pollution conditions do not limit themselves to particular streets in a City - or even localized areas of a city.

Although I did not live full time in London - I did have an office there - and a Flat for when I was there. London is a lot like many other old big cities in that they have good and bad neighborhoods - and while overall crime continues to drop - knife and gun crime has increased. Having said that - like NYC - you really could have an England without London - which is the center of financial affairs in the UK.

You're right, they should ban burning fossils everywhere. It's coming up.

Sure, but it's still unpleasant for those stuck on dense streets with thousands of cars even if the pollution is blown away somewhere else. Car exhaust smells terrible and is filled with carcinogens. A lot of big cities might follow this route, China is already doing something similar.

Even if the pollution is not contained in a specific area, that is no excuse to avoid the problem altogether.

Side note that I'm no environmentalist and didn't buy and EV to be green, but having been to places with 0 pollution, I can appreciate clean air.

It only works when low intelligence politicians are in charge.
