DRIVEN + VIDEO: Did Jaguar SWING And MISS With The All-new E-Pace? Consumer Reports Weighs In...
One of the things I noted when I checked out the all-new Jaguar E-Pace was that, overall, this leaping cat did not strike my fancy. That's because it felt way too small on the inside and there was a lot of cheap materials being used on the inside.

Simply put, it didn't seem befitting of the Jaguar name. Granted, the definition of what's acceptable for that marque has shifted.

But it seems that my initial response to the E-Pace was warranted. That's because the folks over at Consumer Reports recently published a video concerning the all-new E-Pace and its initial impressions weren't exactly great.

To essentially boil it down: The E-Pace was deemed a great driver; however, its ride quality and transmission were deemed too rough and jerky. In addition, the rest of the vehicle's accoutrements were middle of the road.

So, Spies, I've got to ask: Did Jaguar SWING and MISS with the all-new E-Pace? What say you?

The E-Pace, Jaguar's entry-level luxury SUV, features sharp handling and attractive styling, but lacks the luxury and refinement buyers might expect for its steep price tag.

Jaguar always has the ability to bring out other higher level versions of that vehicle. THe problem is - Tata does not have the financial clout of a GM or VW and cannot easily fix the problem by throwing money at it.

THere is always the mid-cycle refresh coming

It's a definite swing and miss stylistically. It looks like a model-year 2005 Japanese something or other. Callum really needs to be fired given that he seems capable only of ugly designs (XJ) or painfully plain ones (XF, XE, FPace, EPace). Sure there is the FType, but it's long in tooth. The IPace is really awkward looking from some angles.

that wasn't a horrible review. I have seen it, the looks are edgy, either you like or hate it. Or if they went safe it will look like the other 500 suv's in its class. It will be a hit but a niche. Upgrade infotainment and ditch the stupid grab handle in middle and make shift thick in your palms so you feel connected. Front end if actually very nice and I always thought Jag has best grills because regardless of the model it retains it's design integrity in its shape unlike say, Lexus ( grills are atrocities )

Epace.. Cheap interior, big lease payment, totally not a luxury car... a race to fill a market segment, slow nearly none existent sales.. nothing new from Jaguar... the generic brand that is at best middle market..Hyundai produces better quality interiors and quality by a mile.. so... why bother, total miss.

Very disappointing b/c the exterior proportions are well done. It's a good-looking CUV on the exterior.

The bargain base-like Camry/Accord interior sours the overall package. The reviewer mentioned pricing but didn't provide an estimated price for the model trim he was driving. But basically, the Jag interior is simple yet depressing - kinda felt the same about the XE sedan. It look OK, fun to drive, very boring interior.

Seems like JLR doesn't want to compete it's own Jag CUV's against the less expensive LR's.
