Will The New Toyota Supra Be A Hybrid?

I don't know if the Supra should be a hybrid, but this is the only Supra I ever liked.

The rest of the car has all the trendy lines of many other sports cars.

Change the name to the Toyota Jigsaw.

Hybrid is good but it will be too expensive, and no I don't think it will return 30 mpg.

I have said this and will say it over again and again.

Hybrid will knock your socks off in time. Every generation of proceeding hybrid will leapflog in performance and surpass many of our expectation. Its not if anymore..its when. Accept it.

Priced to compete with the GTR???? Someone correct me if I am wrong but didn't the Supra compete with the 300ZX back in the day? That's a huuge step up to compete with "Godzilla" in price and performance. They better strap A couple of really big turbos on on that sucker. I have no doubt that Toyota can build a super sports car, but this move seems odd.........

Well, they said that they changed the LF-A to meet regulatory standards alot. Maybe that could be the revised version of the LF-A. It looks great!!

The front headlights resembles the R8.

Notice the B-pillars are swooped back unlike the concept version of the LF-A, they stand perindicular to the ground. If you notice on the latest spy shots of the LF-A they changed the b-pillar to look like this picture, very swooped back. I think it could be the Lexus...

They said they also had to add a grill to the LF-A as well.

Just some minor things I noticed...

It looks like something I'd see in a high-tech Irvine trailer park. L-finesse for Generation Rockabilly.

You have a point. This is also a photoshop obviously, maybe the body will look like this, just come key features like the headlights, and the rear end tail pipes and radiators will be different, and the hood lines since it doesn't match up to the L-Finesse theme. I think the lines on this car look a little more refined than the LF-A concept except for the hood. Looks more production ready...

Supposely, rumor been flying around saying that the new Supra suppose to get a V6 with 380 hp and a V8 twinturbo with 500+ hp. But I guess just have to wait for the actual production vechicle to come out and see.

Just what EL34 said, looks like all the European exotics were taken apart and put back together. Combining all of their designs to make this. Toyota needs some real designers. Man... This is pathetic.

No it will be a mid-engine sports car. It looks in these photos as if the engine is mounted in the front...

This car is more Bangalized than all the BMWs combined. I Hope its only a photoshop.

I think the rear end looks like a good evolution of what the MKIV supra looked like. As does the profile as well.

My philosophy for a car:

The front reminded me of a Subaru at first glance, but it does look good.

my take:

the lexus LF-A will showcase toyota's F1 racing technology.

the new Supra will be a "low priced" version. it will blow away all competitors, whatever its price point.

When this Toyota Supra come out I know I'm going to get it for sure. Especially the V8 turbo with 500hp and the price that they offer too, it hard to resist.

p.s. I think I would rather get this Supra than the IS500.

the Supra may well offer the same engine as the LF-A, possibly detuned by a few horses. (with the multi-millions toyota pumped into their F1 program, why stint on opportunities for a profitable return?)

AND, a few OTHER engines as well. a V8 (from ls460?). and the V6/hybrid as mentioned.

the last will hark back to the early days of sports cars, when they were fun, fast, AND economical to run. such a car will REVOLUTIONIZE high end sports cars the way the original mazda miata did at the low end.

(the LF-A V10 of course, is beyond just high end. it will be in the exoticar class.)

No one gives a hoot about imitation sports cars from Toyota because they can't deliver what enthusiats want. Toyota should go to Nissan and even Mazda to learn a few things about sports cars that interest real drivers. What happened to the Original Supra? Axed..poor sales. Celica, budget sports car (axed even at 20K)...Toyota MR2 another budget sports car axed..poor sales. LF-A will go the same route. only way to escape is to sell it for less than 50K..

The GS450H has come dead last in "every" single comparison test I've seen so far.. words like not sporty, souless and sewing machine like are typical adjectives..Like most people, I don't mind saving money on gas, but not when its at the expense of my driving enjoyment, I'll never sacrifice that even if the car ran on air.. I'm no Bill Gates, but if I had a list of 20 things I look for in a car, saving a little change on gas (even ignoring the price increase for a hybrid) would be number 20. People who can afford the LF-A or any car in that price range and there will be very very few of them (before its axed) will not worry about the $5 or whatever popcorn money they save at each fill up. Now if the car actually delivered the goods, the gas savings will be a plus, but Lexus has consistently shown that its incapable of building cars that excite enthusiasts so here's the marketing line.. "100K+ imitation sports car with bland looks for sale: guaranteed to underperform against the competition, but also guaranteed to save you $5 each time you fill up!! Geez..I hear the big boys stampeding already!!!!

continue your yapping after the Formula One derived V10 in the LF-A (and possibly the Supra) smokes your boy racer favorite.
