#MontereyCarWeek: MORE Pictures Of The All-new BMW Z4 — Are You IMPRESSED or DEPRESSED With BMW's Latest Roadster?
It's funny. The folks who are in Monterey have been posting pictures since a day or two ago.

Mostly the pictures are one in the same. In a normal parking garage or street parked is something completely insane. It may be a top less, black Ferrari F50, it could be the Schein's completely reworked white McLaren F1, or it could even been an Aventador, 911 GT2RS and a 675LT Spider all parked up next to each other.

Monterey Car Week — BMW Z4

It's kind of like what Forrest Gump said. You never know what you're gonna get.

Having said that, we were well aware that BMW would be rolling out the all-new Z4. What was speculation turned into a certainty with leaked photos and BMW's not so subtle press release. Now that it's here and the bevy of information has hit the web we're left wondering.

Rather than harp on data, which you view in Agent 009's post, I wanted to focus purely on design. With this collection of images provided by BMW, I've got to ask: Are you IMPRESSED or DEPRESSED with BMW's latest roadster?

This weekend, BMW has amassed a collection of its greatest roadsters, ranging from the Z1 to the Z8 to the Z4, and I've got to know what you're thinking, Spies. Is the all-new Z4 going to be joinging the GREAT ones?

What an ugly POS. Doesn't look premium. Doesn't look performance-oriented. I'm seriously not understanding what BMW was thinking here. At least the previous generations had a quirky character about them. I would never consider this over a lower-trim F-Type. And it doesn't have the cuteness factor of an MX-5. Who exactly is going to buy this?

Kinda ugly on the outside. At least they are using OLED for the screens, looks slick even from the photos.

BMW's styling seems trendy and quickly dated to me, whereas Porsche's designs seem to be understated, and enduring... something I appreciate in a car.

New 2019 BMW is an instant classic. Beautifully made and finished, it does make the Porsche class leader look jaded. BMW pulled it off in a big way.

The range of opinions on this site is staggering. Usually when a new BMW model is shown the majority claim that it is too evolutionary and looks like it could be the year 2000 model. But you think it's too trendy?

While everyone is focused on how 'turd-in-the-punchbowl' the styling is...let's take a moment to consider our opinions on BMW's new, seemingly-signature, Lambo-esque, XBox-esque video instrument cluster - first seen in the X5 and now here.

At least the deplorable BMW 'joystick' shifter appears to be gone.

Has anyone seen the BMW-XBox in person and care to comment?

So people should ignore the ugly styling because it has a video game interior?

Just wait until it starts springing oil leaks from every imaginable engine gasket...Just as it exits warranty.

Like the rounded forms (tops of hood and fenders) but to my eye the straight cut lines(side, front rear) could be softened for a more elegant classic look. Mercedes is ditching sharp cut lines for a more poured on look and BMW is sharpening its lines...the market will decide which is more appealing.

Impressive, will anyone that is interested be able to afford it? With the X2 costing more than any of its competition, far more than it should, and missing mainstream options like blind spot alert.. BMW's cost too much, lack basic options and have cheap interiors.. so it seems more like the answer to a question that no-one is asking anymore. so for the 3-4000 that they sell per year, okay.. if you still want a useless 2 seat convertible when you are in the sea of SUV's on the way to work... good luck in an accident...

Dude, no one is buying these as a daily driver. My Z3 is a weekend toy. I do agree that this new Z4 is too expensive. If it was stripped down and 35K they'd kill the Miata and Fiat market, and find a lot of current BMW drivers adding one to the fleet for the heck of it.

The concept car's front end was magical. This car looks like a cheap entry level Fiat-esque car. The back looks like an Infiniti. The side looks like a Mercedes. Is it hideous? No. But is it HOT? No. Would I buy one? No, and I'm looking for another weekend driver.

Just like the 8 Series, this one is not for me. I'm ready for new styling from BMW, but not when it's been there done that styling.

Half of the interior metal trim is in the wrong places, and almost all plastic look dirt cheap. I've been a loyal BMW driver for its driving sportiness, but they really need to hire some interior designers from AUDI or Mercedes!

In transition from the concept car a few things. Naturally I expected the rear buttresses to be gone. The Concept car is pretty slammed onto the wheels so I knew that was going away. The hood on the show car seems more rounded where the production car is fairly flat. What worse is the production car went for larger and clumsier head lamps versus the concept car. Dead on the rear of the production car I think looks very nice even though the lights are not the same as the concept car. But the biggest problem is in profile. With the short rear deck and long flat hood as well as the forward rack back to front it looks more like an old school Mercedes SL or SLK. The side slashes seem to me that BMW was channeling back or paying homage their "Chis Bangle" as former designer. That upper slash looks to prominent versus the concept car. In the concept car the slash seems to disappear more into the body and then becomes the top of the rear fender. In the production car it cuts across the rear fender making the transition to the rear spoiler clumsy. And now lets talk about that vent behind the front wheels. In the concept car it is there but it is smaller and less prominent. In the production car it is too big and now black with what appears to be this added bulge in front of the vent. What the hell was BMW thinking? I really liked the fullness of the body below the lower slash on the concept car but BMW seems to want to emphasize that slash and vent as the prominent design elements on the production car. Totally unnecessary and a shame.
