NAME and SHAME: What Vehicles AREN'T Aging Well? Can You Name The Three WORST?
As I work my way around the New York Tri-State area, I am always on the prowl. I am car spotting, looking at everything on the road and hoping to run across something cool.

Maybe it seems a bit juvenile but You have to kill time sitting in traffic somehow.

I have a feeling that car enthusiasts find this similar to how they get through jams. When catching up with Agent 001 recently, he sent me a snap of the first-generation Porsche Panamera.

This particular example was painted a not too forgiving shade of brown. And, boy, it just didn't look good. While the first-gen Panamera wasn't exactly a looker...ever, this specific situation really elevated the design's weak points.

It simply wasn't aging well.

That said, I've gotta ask: Can YOU name the THREE worst automotive designs that aren't aging well?

I disagree on the Porsche Panamera, it was ugly the day it was introduced and it remains just as ugly today. Regarding the second generation, Rosie ODonnell got a face lift, it’s still Rosie ODonnell.

Honestly, I never really liked the Panamera exterior so much. However, I appreciate the 4 doors, hatch style rear, the instrument & center stack panels - that balances the overall experience I think. If the 4S or Turbo 4S were to be handed to me, I wouldn't turn either version down. It's a well dressed street monster for many occasions.

The Panama is like that blind date you were fixed up with in college and all they would tell you she has a great personality!

All soccer mom minivans, all Acura cars with current face (ugly out of the box),
all my cars ("Dad don't tell me you really bought that!" "Yes son I did.").

Honda Civic--and for the same reason the Accord--the genius of the excessive surface detailing, strange chrome face, bizarre tail lights simply has not come to light. If Honda would erase all of the surface excitement and give the car a completely restyled nose that is attractive this would be a winner.

Lincoln MKZ--the Max Wolff designed nightmare was ugly when it debuted and the Continental face on it with the update gives you hope until you see the hatchback profile and the ugly tail again and realize there is no way to save that ugly design. The better move with the Lincoln Fusions would have been to kill the MKZ Fusion and install the Continental Fusion at that price point.

Jeep Cherokee--It was an ugly "French" design that Citroen would approve of when it debuted and the trip to dullsville with the update did it no favors. It's not a Cherokee. The Cherokee needs to look like the XJ Cherokee, use the Grand Cherokee platform, and come at an advantageous price relative to the luxury pricing of the softer looking Grand Cherokee.

I agree on the Jeep Cherokee design. Yes it's "different", but kind of a disaster overall.

It would've been an all-out success if the exterior proportions (ratios) mimicked the Grand Cherokee. It could've been a 3/4th version. The newer Compass is a much better fit in the lineup under the GC.

Most BMW 7 Series have never been styled for their mission - and it just gets worse as they get older.

The TVR Grantura was weird when first introduced and did not get any better over time - same with the Griffith 200 - although the 400 was better looking - and same with the Vixen series. These cars always seemed to be off on their proportions among other things.

But the worst looking car on the road was the AMC Matador - no one has yet come close even.

Not at all - No matter how long they age - those TVR still look weird - the 7 Series was named by others in the thread as well - and while many here would not remember it - no amount of aging will ever make the Matador look acceptable.

Notice the use of present tense in the question. It says "aging" not "aged".

TomM: You say nothing comes close to the Matador ....
I say Pontiac Aztec might be on the same family tree, just a different branch

ZDX is easily uglier than the Matador the Dementia Man offered when he missed the point of the topic.
