US And Mexico Reach Preliminary NAFTA Deal Leaving Canada Alone On The Playground
The United States and Mexico have reached agreement to revise key portions of the 24-year-old North American Free Trade Agreement and a preliminary deal could be announced on Monday, a crucial step toward revamping a trade pact that has appeared on the brink of collapse during the past year of negotiations.

Reaching an agreement on how to revise some of the most contentious portions of what President Trump has long called the worst trade pact in history would give Mr. Trump a significant win in a trade war he has started with countries around the globe, including Mexico, Canada, the European Union and China.

NAFTA is best and most accurately described like this:

Canada mines and produces all the natural resources and minerals. Mexico does all the assembly work and the US cashes all the checks....

Canada thanks to the incompetence of our feminist hipster moronic PM Mohamed Trudeau is about to get schooled and man handled by Trump on a "take it or leave it" deal and frankly we deserve this for electing a Boy to do a Mans Job.

We could have inked a no concessions deal in the Spring like what Trump wanted to as the real issues was with Mexico but instead we had to stand with Mexico and negotiate trilaterally. First chance Mexico had they threw us under the bus Obama grandmother style and cut there own deal at our expense. Trump did say this was going to cost Canada a lot of money and he wasn't bullshitting either. Liberal elitism at it's finest.

I imagine you will see Trudeau do what Dems in the US are doing...point to Trump's personality as a means of opposing him because they cannot address the reality that a man who has never been a politician has already accomplished more positive results for his constituents for the US in 18 months than any other POTUS in US History. There is a reason his polling continues to be high despite the fake Russian Collusion story or the focus on Stormy Daniels.

Not to dull the discussion with facts, but while the USA wanted a quick deal on their own terms in the Spring, these terms were completely and totally unacceptable to both Mexico and Canada, so a non-starter.

Trudeau, as well as other world leaders, has done a very good job dealing with the current US President and for the most part remains quite neutral on his personality and his twitter feed. You respect the office even if you don't see eye to eye with the current holder. Lastly, the approval ratings for the current President hover between 44%-46%. And while this is up from a rating in the 30-39% range, it is a bit like arguing how much better a -D is than an F.

I am personally glad the NAFTA II deal looks like it will be signed so all of these useless and hurtful tariffs can be done away with and we can get back to work and then focus on a new trade deal that runs from North to South America.

We do not know what is in this "agreement." Trump has a habit of declaring victory before there is one - i.e. - North Korea.

The new NAFTA deal will be great for all 3 parties. North American Auto content is said to be up to 75% and likely now includes software in that calculation of value (A Canadian suggestion). The US has also been firmly told no enough times by Mexico and Canada and has finally dropped the sunset ask for the deal to be renegotiated every 5 years. I suspect supply management will stay in place for Canada and we are good with the details worked out with Mexico relating to the auto sector and aerospace mfg. Time will tell, but hopefully, it gets signed by the end of the year. It all takes time.

Nah, this is just Alt-Right spin. You see, Canada didn't have a trade war with Mexico. Canada doesn't need Trumpty Dumpty's permission to maintain existing trade deals, or to forge new ones with its trading allies. Canada didn't start any trade wars.

The way the Trumpanzees spin it, you'd think #45's decision to start a trade war with Mexico means that Canada is having one as well, and that because the US establishes a new deal with Mexico, Canada now has nothing. Quite simply, this just isn't true. It just means Canada wasn't part of the US-Mexico deal. Well, either was North Korea and Russia :-)

Mind you, #45 and his Devotees have lived in their own alternative reality (AKA "Alternative Facts" -- Kellyanne Conway) since day one, so a Fraud And Friends styled spin is nothing new, is it?

I saw some bits and pieces about it on the news last night, seems pretty reasonable. In general I don’t like Trump and think this is a sleazy Putin loving admin, however this deal seems pretty good from what I have seen so far. If that turns out to be the case then good on Trump for this one.

The Trans-Pacific Partnership, or TPP, was already in place, and that would have revised Nafta, as it includes both Canada and Mexico. Trump could simply have supported TPP, and he had the liberty and bargaining power to ask for revisions. Joining TPP also would have helped solve Trump’s China problem, by checking the economic rise of China in some parts of the Pacific region. Trump did not create it and could not take credit for it. ~ Bloomberg

Proof again, that the soon to be impeached draft dodger philanderer is a horrible negotiator. And how he treated McCain's passing is unacceptable unless you are a mob type, oh wait...
