Volkswagen's S-Class Challenger To Be Based On I.D. Vizzion Concept

Volkswagen will return to the luxury class at the turn of the next decade with an all-electric Mercedes S-Class rival based on the I.D. Vizzion concept.

Bosses have tasked the unnamed model with helping to instill the brand with a sense of luxury that failed to stick with the Phaeton back in 2002. VW has been without a flagship saloon since that model was axed in 2015.

Is the name really "Vizzion"? Is today April Fool's Day?

The Taycan platform was never just going to be used by Porsche. Of course, there will be an Audi and a VW version. And possibly versions for Bentley and Lamborghini too. There will also be SUV's and maybe coupe versions as well. This is how VAG things. Long-term and for the greatest good of all brands in the group.

Evidently, failing twice with the Phaeton was not enough for Volkswagen to learn their lesson :-(

The Volkswagen Audi Group (VAG) would be served well to rein in their various brands, and make sure each plays its proper role:
- Volkswagen: The practical people mover
- Audi: Luxury, competing against BMW and Mercedes
- Bentley: Super luxury, competing against Roll-Royce

Having a VW branded product to go up against Mercedes is sheer folly.

It’s like the company is self sabotaging!? Instead of bringing in products that will sell like the camper van or the Polo/CrossPolo...

I looked at a Phaeton when they were available, but for a VW product it was just too expensive, and borderline low end tech (still CD based navigation). While I'm no longer in the sedan market, I would consider this if the price is more acceptable.

My guess is they hired some new guy and he has no idea they tried this before.

Also, for the benefit of our resident ultra-sensitive, politically correct, SJW, I'd like to point out that I am not anti-German people.

Republicans cannot be SJW. That's 100% a Liberal thing. Your psychological projection is showing big time. Seek therapy. I'd diagnose you but that would be unprofessional.
