Analyst Says Model 3 Production Should Be Around 55-70K Annually By End Of Q3

As Tesla continues to deal with the aftermath of its privatization attempt, all eyes are once more on the Model 3 production ramp and the company’s attempt at profitability this Q3. Fortunately for Tesla, the Model 3 ramp appears to have gone strong despite the drama that ensued after Elon Musk announced his initial intentions to take the company off the public markets.

Tesla’s progress with the Model 3 ramp was the focus of Nomura Instinet analyst Romit Shah during a recent segment of Bloomberg Markets. While speaking with the segment’s host, the analyst noted that his firm is optimistic about Tesla’s Model 3 production numbers for this quarter.

Annualy?
Methinks not.

Note the word "analyst." Singular. One guy, who allegedly believes in the stated numbers.

Meanwhile, there are a hell of a lot of analysts who are concerned about Tesla's survival over the next few years.

Would everyone please get it straight? Musk never said he WAS taking it private, only that he was considering it.

I have no interest in Tesla personally, other than just a curious regular car guy. While I hope they survive, I believe it will take someone else assuming the CEO functions that actually knows how to run a car company.

When you are the CEO of a public company you can't "think" out loud, particularly about major issues. These things are kept private within the Boardroom until a definitive plan is in place that is then formally announced.

Only one of you has read the post. The headline says the analyst estimates Tesla will have ramped up production in Q3 to a level where it can produce at a rate of 55,000 to 70,000 cars annually. IE somewhere close to 15,000 -20,000 cars per quarter. Time will tell.

If anyone believes the headline written by AGENT009, he'll be the biggest sucker on Autospies.

Directly from the linked article:

“It’s changing. I mean, this quarter, we think that Tesla is gonna produce around 65,000 or 70,000 Model 3. That’s a big increase from a quarter or two ago. The whole production issue with Model 3 today is very different than what’s been going on over the last several quarters,” the analyst said.

Like someone said earlier, it's the opinion of ONE ANALyst. THe 65K-70K production number in Q3 may be a little too optimistic, but 60K is achievable and is already above to top range estimate from Q2 earning call.

Bloomberg tracker shows over 78K total production as of today, subtract a handful produced in 2017, that's already over the 70K number in the headline by Agent009.

Let's cut through the bullshit and tell me how many extra bumpers can Tesla produce to make up for ones lost in the rain?

Let us cut through even more bullshit and read that no one else has posted anything like the “stories” posted online about bumpers falling off and consider the possibility that either these posts were trolls, or simply morons who drove their cars through deep water at 45mph.

Is that in U.S. dollars? No thanks!

Gee..what happens when (IF?) the order backlog is fulfilled?

I can't wait for the Telsa "December to Remember" sales event ! I look forward to the TV commercials starting around Thanksgiving with a tiger-mom blind-folding her techie-nerd-douche hubby and walking him outside to find (SURPRISE!) a Model 3 with a red bow on top.

Will that day ever come? Methinks not.

By the way, what really is the order backlog now? Radio silence on that for a few months; must be really bad.

Please tell me you can work a calculator, 5k per week * 13 weeks per quarter = 65k per qtr.
