Where Did They Go Wrong? Moody's Dowgrades Ford To Just Above Junk Bond Status
Roughly six years after Ford Motor Co. returned to investment grade and reclaimed its mortgaged Blue Oval, the automaker is once again in danger of plunging into junk bond status.

Moody's Investors Service on Wednesday downgraded Ford to Baa3 from Baa2, a move the credit agency telegraphed earlier this year when it changed its rating outlook on Ford to "negative" from "stable." The agency cited "erosion in the company's global business position and the challenges it will face implementing its Fitness Redesign program."

On the outside looking in, it seems that Ford is being incoherent in ditching sedans, BUT if the plan works then they will be geniuses. This is all about the nervousness of observers.

The lack of a true leader in the CEO's office shows here, Hackett is not the man...at all. Bill Ford needs to get Alan back..or someone like him and quick.

their products are boring. too much resource wasted on the ultimate rental car, the mustang. none of their sedans are any good which is perfect since nobody buys sedans anymore. they dont know how to deploy their money and their designs aside from the fast focus' are boring.

The Fusion is a perfectly competent sedan. Ford compounded the slide of its sedans by saying they were going to be cancelled down the road.

That was a dumb move because what the buying public heard is that the Fusion, Focus, and Fiesta were cancelled immediately, so why do they want to buy a discontinued car?

A change in management is vitally important. Ford makes good cars and some great ones are coming BUT their management is currently incoherent as hell.

Again what I cannot understand is why the stock price for Ford as averaged about 10 or 11 for the past 10 years while GM and even FCA's price has gone up. Clearly something is off.

If Ford has a direction, it is not obvious to me....and it sounds like Wall Street feels the same way.
