STUD OR DUD? Tesla Releases New Roadster Images

While it is still years away from production, Tesla appears to be marketing the next-gen Roadster lately.

The automaker has now released new Roadster press images.

Earlier today, we reported that Tesla Roadster made its car show debut at the Grand Basel car show.

It was both the first time Tesla brought the vehicle to a car show and the first time the vehicle was in Europe.

Tesla displayed the same white design shell that it featured at its shareholder meeting earlier this year.

I can't decide which color I like more, guess I'll need to get two.

@SJD - If it can deliver on the promised performance figures, it will be a world beater. 0-60, 1/4 Mile, top speed and King of the Ring. Time will tell.

Musk may be boastful and Tesla is often late on its timeline, but when it comes to performance they always deliver and exceed. The Roaster 2 already strike fear and causes a lot of embarrassment in the supercar world. The Tesla semi also causes quite a lot of stir and disbelief in its capability. The best part is Tesla will reward its customers with unparalleled performance at a sensible price. Proof is right in front of our eyes: the Model S, X and now Model 3 are dominating both in performance and sales against their ICE competitors. Tesla is leading the charge in a new world order. Other EV makers will follow suit and put the legacy ICE (LICE) to rest.

Not digging the styling. Carroll Shelby use to paint the same Cobra different colors to fool the press and now it can be done digitally. Its called progress.

I love it. Like a Model S had a baby with an NSX. Clean, uncluttered, sleek, and aggressive.

Photohack? That is a real car. Saw the white one in person at the investor event, looks awesome.

Both are photos (think HDR), neither are CGI. The white one is a shell, it has a fake interior. You can find other photos of it on other sites.

Sleek and good looking but not a roadster in size or proportions.

Think technically it is a targa, but not sure. A small chunk of the roof comes off like the original roadster.

" A small chunk of the roof comes off" is that by design or engineering fail.

If it is as poorly designed and realized as the Model 3 this will be an absolute turd and not of the TuRD kind.

Why all the knock on Tesla? Porsche, MB, Audi, etc. are all going the electric route, what is different about Tesla that some people hate it so?

Also, change is tough. I think perspectives will be very different five years from now.

What American success story? Existing off of tax dollars? Never making a profit? Bait and switch? Abysmal quality control?

They're far less subsidized than the oil industry. Let's end the tax credits oil manufacturing credits, see gas costs rise to European levels, then see who is more subsidized right now. They made a profit twice in the past, and likely will many more times going forward. QC ramp needs work, The S/X are great from a QC perspective and the 3 looks like it is finally near where it should be.
