Is It Just That Easy? JD Power Combines All Of Their Individual Studies To Get The Top Cars Based On Ownership Experience

Visitors to car-shopping site JDPower.com can quickly gauge the ownership experience of any current model by accessing the vehicle’s rating on the site’s 100-Point Score.

Given that the scores are based on depreciation and verified data from real owners in the areas of quality, dependability, performance, reviews, awards and dealership ratings, what are the site’s highest-rated vehicles?

The highest-rated model year 2018 vehicles listed on JDPower.com today are:

  • Porsche 911 (94 points)
  • Genesis G90 (93)
  • Mercedes-Benz S-Class (92)
  • Lincoln Continental (92)
  • Porsche Macan (91)
  • Lincoln Navigator (91)
  • Lexus RX (91)
  • Porsche 718 (90)
  • BMW 7 Series (90)
  • Cadillac Escalade (90)
  • Genesis G80 (90)
  • Lexus GS (90)
  • Porsche Cayenne (90)

Complementing the 100-Point Score on the new consumer-friendly website is a series of Red Blade Ratings that provide a quick, easy-to-digest look into the vehicle data at several touchpoints.

“With nearly 600 models receiving a score of 81 or higher, car shoppers can find a high-quality vehicle on JDPower.com that suits their wants and needs,” said Troy Snyder, Vice President, Consumer Division at J.D. Power. “In addition to the rating scores, car shoppers can see which vehicles won a J.D. Power award by segment, so they can rest assured that they’re making a wise purchase decision.”

The Red Blade Ratings and 100-Point Score are sourced from J.D. Power’s wealth of consumer insight data from studies such as Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS); Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI); Initial Quality Study (IQS); Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL); and Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI). These studies reflect more than 3.2 million verified ownership experiences from vehicle models dating from model year 2013 to model year 2018.

JD Power doesn't survey Tesla owners. Companies that do report the highest customer satisfaction in the industry.

Not a Toyota or Honda among them, and only one Lexus.

My 2018 Carrera S is a really great car. If anyone is thinking about getting a 911 there is one option that is a must have - rear wheel steering. It makes the Carrera S feel as good in the curves as my 718 Boxster S.

How much is the car insurance for the 911?

It would OBVIOUSLY depend on location where the car "lives", its theft rate, age of the owner, and record of the owner.

Ive driven alot of cars in my life and there are very few I would call "special". The 911 is truly a special car, I loved everything about it. For me it would be the 911 4S-Targa as the all wheel drive negates the tail heavy component. Magnificent car in every respect...

J.D Powers is a scam company that sells its services for big profits to big car companies and gives said car companies reasons to TORTURE the dealers that sell their cars as the manufacturers race to be "the best"... nothing JD Powers has to say is worth listening to... all profit driven advice for the benefit of a single company... they are not doing anything to help consumers or manufacturers, they just re-invent ways to make more money for themselves... F(#& JD Powers and their opinion on everything.

JD Power is 100% fabrication for the sake of marketing.

Not true. I've taken their surveys - they're real and comprehensive.

Taking their survey does not legitimize their "results".

What is amazing is that Lincoln has two in the top 5 and they are talking about killing the Continental instead of making it better.

I have said this before and will repeat it again
WE have no idea whether JD powers studies have ANY validity at all
WE do not know where they get their statistics - what questions they ask the car owners - where they get the lists of car owners - nor the demographics of the car owners opinions used. WE have no idea if those polled have any validity against the public as a whole -and we have no BASE figures of all cars from which we can compare and do not know if THEY actually do that either.

GIGO

I pay $1700/yr insurance for the 2018 Carrera S here in NJ. 2017 Boxster S is about $1500.

Porsche drivers are very proud owners. So proud, they are willing to pay over MSRP for a specialty porsche. I am actually surprised Range Rover or a Land Rover isn't on the list. People love saying they drive one and is a status. Like women always saying, "I love my Louie!" How can you really love a purse that much?
