every headline with tesla in it is click bait. nobody with a brain would think tesla competes with mercedes. tesla is hype. mercedes is a car company.

Completely agree

Mercedes has a dealer network that would simply wipe away competition - if any company actually was at the level Mercedes is. At Best - Tesla competes with Genesis and Buick.

Reading the articles and comments on this site confuses the hell out of me. On the one hand, people say Tesla has less than a year to live - its demise is imminent, any day now will be the beginning of the fall. On the other, they are rooting for German automakers to beat Tesla to death, but that will take until 2020 when they have something to show.

So why the fuss about making announcements about big EV plans when Tesla won't be there to compete ? Without Tesla, the Germans don't need to beat each other selling EVs - they are already in bed together on the emission scandals, why bother with EVs when their future is secure ?
