Nissan Bails On Sedans In Europe And Russia - Is The US Next?

Nissan is the latest automaker to be switching away from passenger cars and towards SUVs – though not in North America, like Ford did, but in Europe and Russia.

According to Automotive News Europe, the Japanese automaker is discontinuing the Pulsar hatchback in European markets and the Almera sedan in Russia. The company cites “a rapidly increasing switch by European customers from traditional vehicle segments to crossovers,” upon which it will now rely more heavily in those markets.

Maybe, because Nissan's sedans are not competitive in the US to begin with compared to Toyota and Honda.

Is that why they are still selling it in the US? So when they become competitive they will stop selling it?

I'm assuming the Sentra is dead because it's older than old. The Maxima is a horrible seller and could easily be incorporated into the Altima, but even that is no loss given the misery factor of driving an Altima.

MDarringer, you should concentrate in selling the Hyundai. Nissan are good cars. They are way better than Hyundai.

My Dad use to say its best to be first to market in business or the last one making it. The more companies who stop making sedans may be helping the last few who do.

I wonder what this will do to used car prices and the CPO market. Scarcity usually raises prices.
