They're HERE! North American Car, Truck And Utility Semifinalists Are ANNOUNCED — Did The Judges MISS Any?
You know fall has arrived when the sun starts going down earlier. Hell, yesterday night I was in the office and at around 7:05 p.m. New York had gone fully dark.

Summer is over, folks.

That means a bunch of things but as you may expect being that this is AutoSpies, we're a bit keen on the upcoming North American Car/Truck/Utility of the Year awards. While we take them with a grain of salt, one thing is certain: Some folks do pay attention to the winners.

Just announced were the semifinalists. The NACOTY category has 14 entrants dueling it out, the NATOTY category has a rather lame three participants, and the NAUOTY category has six players.

Incredibly pathetic list. Sure they are new, but unremarkable.

I don't care all that much about the truck category, but why the Chev and GMC version of the same truck? They list two GMs but not the F150? Just seems strange.

I like where you're head's at but I think the RDX could be swapped for the XC40...

I’m so tired of “truck of the year” awards. There are not enough models made to make it a true award. It pretty much goes by default to which ever of the big 3 come out with an all new pickup.

And yet - two of the three came out with competition and the FCA Ram has a real chance to win over the ho-hum Chevy.

This is just a generalization. There have been years where a new F150 is put up against a refreshed Silverado 2500 and practically wins by default.

If anyone looks closely enough at the new Ram in the flesh, they will be able to figure out that it is NOT an all new truck but a heavily restyled/massaged old truck that is called new ditto the Silverado.

The Genesis G70 and Volvo XC40 get my votes!
