Volvo Developing DSG-Style Automatics

Volkswagen’s DSG gearbox has won accolades for its slick shifting, efficient power delivery, and fuel economy ratings, and reports confirm that most other German carmakers are working on similar systems. Volvo has announced it’s also working on developing a DSG style double-clutch transmission, and that it will debut within two years. It’s expected to be first seen on an upcoming high-performance R-variant of the C30 with a Haldex AWD system. Apart from the performance gains, the C30R will benefit from better fuel economy and lower emissions.

Will it is called a "Eurolook", it currently is the rage and everyone is copying it.

The DSG was developed by Borg-Warner and VW/Audi. When you see all of the other brands jump to DSG they are sourcing the technology from BW. VW/Audi got to use it first since they co-developed it.

It uses a DSG like transmission. It must be owned and built by VW, afterall S4 said so.

Well, in a way, everyone is. If it were not for Audi, not one single luxury sedan on sale today would have AWD. It would be limited to Subarus, Mitsus and SUVs.

No, not really. The first luxury sedan with AWD, in response to Audi, was the Mercedes E 4Matic.

Why are you just making things up? To make me look bad? Audi was the first luxury carmaker with AWD- and that's 100% true. Audi and Subaru are the AWD car masters.

"S4cabriofox" I have to agree with "Will" for once, that is a very broad statement to make, and one that has nothing to do with the topic of this article.

Regardless wether or not Mercedes had AWD back in the 1900's (I don't know if it did or not), who's to say Mercedes or BMW wouldn't have come up with the same idea further up the road?
