Mercedes-Benz Positions The A Class As A Gateway Vehicle To New Customers
The Mercedes-Benz A class is the new CLA.

The A-Class has always been positioned as the entry point for the brand. Whether the hatchback, CLA or whatever. Not really new news. The A-Sedan is now, more specifically, the more appealing configuration, but the CLA will still be offered from my understanding and from all the test mules spotted.

Starting at $30k... just like the CLA/GLA. Problem is with options, it’s more like $40k.

It's that M-B is more confident in the A-class line & is executing plans to offer the line in the US. So while many of the mainstream automakers have dialed-back their small sedan plans, M-B will put a new upscale/entry-level luxury product on roads. And of course, it will command higher transaction prices for all the little luxury/tech details that's been baked-in at the start.
