RENDERED SPECULATION: IF The All-new, Mid-engined Chevrolet Corvette Looks Like THIS, Will You Be Cutting GM A Check?
In recent months, there's been a lot of commotion over General Motors next big-time sports car release. That's because it will be the next-gen Chevrolet Corvette. There's just one thing this time around.

It's looking fairly evident that the all-new Corvette — dubbed Zora — will be feature a mid-engine layout.

This is a huge departure for the Corvette. In fact, we're sure many will consider it sacrilegious. Remember, this is the same group of loyalists that freaked out when the Corvette went from having pop up headlights to a modern, flush headlight design.

That said, the folks over at KSS Studio put together an all-new render based on what's been seen so far. I think it's about 7/10ths there. This render is actually a bit more tame than the latest spy shots seem to indicate from the next-gen 'Vette's design.

So, what do YOU think, Spies? IF the next-gen Corvette looks like the below, will you be cutting General Motors a check?

Supposedly this is the car Cheif Engineer Tadge Juechter has always wanted to build. Not sure why.

Zora Duntov, chief engineer for corvette in its early days was someone who raced vettes and was responsible for some of the early hot models. He always wanted a mid engine version and in the late 1960s, with the wankle engine they were headed that way. Built a gorgeous version with a twin rotor wankle, and drove it all around GM. US pollution laws and oil seal issues killed it.

Will You Be Cutting GM A Check?

not feeling this, it's a big departure from a classic vette body style so this may take the market some getting used to perhaps or perhaps it's just a lost cause, too early to tell

Seems fairly tame for a mid engine design. I am sure it will perform though, GM has been on a great streak in producing excellent performance cars. If the prices is right it should sell like cray cray. Good on Chevy for having the will to go this route.

Chevy would need to go bury their head in the sand, for so many reasons.

This is a rendering, not the real car. I have seen other, better looking renderings. However why bother critisizing until you see the real thing.

He is correct - over the years we have seen LOTS of various "renderings" that in the end resemble sort of the actual car - but do not really get it right either.

WE still have a lot of unanswered questions about the mid-engine Corvette - and we really cannot make a decision based on speculation completely.

Even so - it is very unlikely that a new - mid-engine Corvette will have any problems selling in the Market Place.

ANd we never even discussed the upcoming Corvette Crossover too!

I think leave it to the g.m guys I'm sure they are not worried about any of our opinions so many will buy it since the price of a Vette is cheaper than anything it stands against and it will out drive it's competition I say way to go it's 2018 and change is good.

have they mentioned a price, is it 2 or 3 times the price of a current vette?

I think you are underselling the Modena. I thought that car had graceful lines

Most of us can't afford an European, Asian or Italian supercar and NOT to mention possible TARIFFS...that being said the corvette is going to get sexy and beautiful in a hurry.....

I do remember several times that GM said they would not be making a mid-engine Corvette, especially since they have the current Corvette dialed in so well.

The ducts and inlets beneath the headlights are way too busy - too many unnecessary creases. Maybe study Ferrari

Way to derivitave, to much Ferrari and nsx aft of the side window, and to much Porsche RS and gt lin s look on the front surface. The first ever production mid engine Corvette, and the design lacks so much originality, seriously general, what the hell?!

Whoever created this rendering on his laptop started with a photo of a Modena. This is NOT the new Corvette.
