2019 Genesis G70 Matches BMW 320i Base Price - Will There Be Cross Shopping?
Hyundai, it seems, is serious about taking on the Germans with the new 2019 Genesis G70 sport sedan. So much so that’s actually priced identically to the current BMW 3 Series. But there’s a catch that makes it an even better deal.

Genesis announced today that the G70 will start at $35,895, including the $995 destination fee, which prices it exactly the same as a base 320i. Both are rear-wheel drive sport sedans, both have premium features, both have turbo four-cylinder engines.

Q = 2019 Genesis G70 Matches BMW 320i Base Price - Will There Be Cross Shopping?

MrE30 A = Does anyone buy (maybe lease is the operative verb?) the 320i? I think I have seen a sum total of three since it was introduced a few years ago. The 320i is a drab car that screams "stripper BMW". I'm not sure why they even sell it.

I agree. Even the current 330 is long in the tooth, 320 is served as BMW's loaner fleet because they don't want to give out any other vehicles. I still think it's a better value than MB CLA and Audi A3 with its RWD dynamic.

I liked this but then thought... hmmm Are there any luxury cars at that price point? I think Hyundai might be a good value for that price point. Also Maxima, Accord, Camry/Avalon/ES might have something to worry about as well.

Comparisons aside, this car should have started at $30k going up to $45K max.
$35k to $52k is about 10% too expensive.

No - Genesis is not in the same class as a BMW - not even close.

If you want a prestige luxury class car - YOu don't look for a Skoda (Genesis)

Every review I have read says this car has the dynamics and the interior to beat BMW, not to mention far greater quality.

Probably not, unless of course they can seem to control the depreciation after the 2 or 3 year lease...

BMW hasn't been able to control that and they are an established car company with a reputation. Have you seen the depreciation on those after 2 or 3 years? Unless it comes with a CPO warrantee and its sold from a BMW dealer, who try to keep the prices up, by the way. 35% to 45% off MSRP...Guess they make up the difference with part prices. The cars devalue like shit, but parts for them will always cost an "arm and a leg".

The G70 needs to be 20% LOWER than the 3 Series.

Kia builds cheaply designed and cheaply built cars which allowed them to produce low price vehicles. But now they have gotten smart. The have decided to build cheaply designed and cheaply built cars but charge the same high prices that the premium European car makers charge.

Some gullible fool Americans will buy the crummy Kias and Hyundais.

No worse that people buying VWs with Audi/Porsche/Bentley/Bugatti emblems on them.
