California To Step In And Provide $2000 Additional Assistance To EV Buyers
Just as one incentive prepares to fade away, another green vehicle bonus looms on the horizon. California is considering upping the amount of cash buyers of electric vehicles stand to gain from their state government at purchase time — boosting the subsidy from today’s $2,500 to $4,500. The potential change comes after Tesla reached the 200,000 limit for the full federal EV tax credit in July, with General Motors and Nissan trailing not far behind.

California thinking smart and leading the world into the future once again. No wonder the economy is booming there. It should be noted that Cali's EV rebate program budget is tiny compared to the direct taxpayer assistance Cali farmers get, Cali corporations get, and small business receive. It's great that the Socialism big corporations receive all the time is now accessible to the common guy on the street. Just the Farmer's direct assistance budget alone is 6x what the EV program is..

Majority of farmers get Gubment $ because of their market and/or export issues, not simply as handout welfare. Its also to keep them in business, we need to eat.... This however is Govt usint tax payer dollars to promote one industry over another...http://www.differencebetween.net/miscellaneous/politics/ideology-politics/difference-between-socialism-and-fascism/

MY objection remains that EVs are not inherently cleaner - they just move the pollution to the energy source.

Yup! About 70% of electricity generated across the US comes from burning stuff.

Fun Fact: If you get your electricity from a coal-fired generating station to power your "clean" EV, you'll produce about 20% less CO2 per mile -- a greenhouse has -- if you ran a diesel. Simple math and vehicle specs prove this out.

Thank goodness that Amerikuh is lead by a government and president that doesn't believe in global climate change (or science), and is singing the benefits of "clean" coal. A big Duh to that :-/

In 2017, CA was 9.4% Wind, 10.2% Solar, 9.1% Nuclear, 4.4% Geothermal, 2.4% Biomass, 2.7% Small Hydro. Overall about 38.1% "clean." 33.7% is Natural gas, and only 4.1% is coal.

CA overtook the UK to be the 5th largest economy in the world, it's no less broke than the US of A.

California may be the world's 5th largest economy but it is also BROKE.

California spends more on welfare that the next two most generous states COMBINED.

California has an absurdly high number of people receiving welfare.

The overtax and overspend Democrats have turned the 5th largest economy into a Third World place to live.

That's not what real estate prices dictate, there is obviously a ton of demand to live in CA. Is public money being poorly spent, of course. Taxes are high, entitlements are high, quality of life is high for most (good weather, low crime, great jobs)

"Just move the pollution to the energy source."....this argument is simply FALSE. It is NOT as simple as that. For one thing, my Model 3 Premium get EPA rated 130mpg-e. An equivalent gasoline BMW 340i (the equivalent BMW performance, price, and size vehicle to mine) is EPA rated 21mpg City and 32HWay, or about 5 times worse on average than my all- electric. So already, on average, my Model 3 is using only about 20% of the fuel that the BMW needs. Added to this, is the fact that your electricity source depends greatly on what region you live. Here in CT, my electricity is <1% Coal. If you live in a region that depends on coal, you still will cut down on pollution by using only 20% of the equivalent fuel gasoline engines need, not to mention the cost and pollution needed to deliver gas from the refineries to the gas stations by truck added into the mix. And this greatly diminished EV fuel usage is not going out of thousands of individual tailpipes. So it IS NOT as simple as your statement would like to make it.

This is wrong on so many levels. Firstly, an electric motor is not 5 times as efficient as an internal combustion engine. It generally is a little more than twice that of an ICE. Secondly, there is significant loss involved in converting energy from one source to another. In a battery operated vehicle this is done at the original site of generation, propagation of that energy to it’s intended user, and then storage into a battery. Finally, the production and disposal of these batteries is environmentally unfriendly. So, as nice as it would be to have a 5 times more efficient, silent, exhaust free vehicle we’re still a long way off. FWIW, I’ve ordered a Model 3

Left coast thinking...duh! Lets go further in debt to support car purchases (EV's are cars aren't they) rather then spend it on education and trade schools to create a better future for the next generation.

A Leaf after incentives is $25k. If you are okay with 80 miles of range you can lease an EV for $150/mo easily (Honda Clarity EV).

Failed Gov. Jerry Brown should be renamed Jerry Burn as California burns tons of coal and tons of oil to power utility generator plants that recharge their electric vehicles.
SSshhh...told tell lame brain Jerry Brown how the electricity is produced, liberal HATE honesty and truth.
