REVIEW: WHY Is The Acura NSX HATED By As Many As Those Who LOVE It? What About It Divides Drivers?
The 2019 Acura NSX debuted recently and while some were excited by the news, others were quick to point out that the brand’s supercar is not worth the effort. With such a divided response, we drove the outgoing model to determine what’s right and wrong with this exciting car while trying to explain the spectrum of opinions people have about it. Hard to follow up on the original with development work by Ayrton Senna. It was sleek and light looking, enough hp, handled great. New one is overly complicated, looks heavier, no Ayrton Senna development.

One thing is certain: Of all the people who love the NSX II, very, very few of them are actually buying one! It seems Acura has designed and delivered a supercar for adoring fans who can't afford it... and previous few others.

Should have stuck to the original formula...light, nimble, precise, and relatively affordable. Too much going on with this new one.

The first NSX was NOT affordable.

Actually, it seems those that spew the most vitriol towards this car are side-car critics who would never drive one, much less buy one. The ones who love the car seem to be the many journalists who've actually driven the car and/or compared it to other cars in its class. The biggest naysayers are the ones of the "Acura isn't a premium brand and its lineup is lame, so, why the NSX?" clique.

The fellow in the video keeps describing the NSX as 'nice.' He could not bring self to become any more dramatic than 'nice.' That says it all.

You've either never seen an AutoGuide review before and/or, specifically, never seen a review from Sami before. This is about as emotive as he gets.

This new project's interior is not that awesome as expected.

Took too long to come to market and when it did it seemed like old news after so much hype and long delay. Too expensive. Design not the best in class by far. Performance ok but not an outstanding, engaging drive. And as I have mentioned before (Lexus LC500) manufactures need to have a consistent presence in the market segment to succeed in sports cars. Ten to twenty years between models doesn't cut it. Its fan base has moved on to brands that consistently stimulate their interest and desire.

1- Acura is not a particularly desirable brand - it is perceived as being behind even most other 2nd tier premiums.

2 - The NSX simply does not push that many buyer's buttons on its own to overcome its Acura heritage. The performance is - at best - tepid. It does not really look the part - and the interior is behind the times.

3 - They do nothing to keep it up to date with more current offerings - they may as well kill it.

4 - For the price - you can do a lot better.

1. Price / The NSX should be aimed at the Corvette and start in the $50K range. Why pay Lamborghini prices for a Honda? The gap between the TLX and the NSX is too wide. Forget the RLX as no one buys it.

2. Emperor's new clothes / The NSX is a car that you're supposed to gush over like you're supposed to do for the Miata and the GT86, but when all is considered, it simply isn't gush worthy.

The NSX has a quiet mode, seriously...NSX is no supercar. An overpriced sports car yes, which should be priced around $80-110k. It's not my "cup of tea"; I couldn't buy a car with quiet mode. Where is this world going?

A supercar should be obnoxiously loud. Acura, take Nissan's GTR design specs and swap out the AWD system with the NSX's 2 electric motors upfront . Then redesign the V6 and make it sound like a man's car.

Last opinion, my wife knows very little about cars but she can recognize an expensive vehicle by it's sound. My son that is in HS lust after the GTR. Why you ask...the sound

People will start loving it once in 2-4 years when depreciation allows for affordability, much like the original actually.

I like it. I don’t love it. I don’t hate it. The price point from 150k to 200k is 50k too high in my opinion. Especially since it is a Honda not a pininfarina. I’m looking forward to the C8 corvette for 60k with a V8 rear mid engine and more stowage.
