Tesla DOMINATES Global EV Sales In August And It Isn't Even Close

EV Sales Blog just released its global statistics on plug-in electric car sales for the month of August 2018, so we can finally check all of the standings.

In August, over 172,400 plug-in cars were sold globally, which is 76% more than a year ago and almost a record (174,000 were sold in December 2017). A new record is expected soon. Like maybe next month.

One name, the Opel Ampera-E and that is tiny. No RHD version was been produced for the Vauxhaul/Holden brands.

The interesting this is that on the list above, there are only 2 BMWs (one of which is a tin can i3), 0 Audis, 0 Porsches, and 0 Mercedes-Benzes. Will Tesla still reign supreme once there are multiple Audis, Porsches and Mercedes-Benzes on that list?

In my opinion, absolutely not. How many of the above-mentioned vehicles are even within 15K of the Tesla Model S and X? Probably one or two if any.

The Chinees brands are the ones coming on strong, Europe EV production likely to stay well behind America, Japan, and China.
