Based On What You're Seeing RIGHT NOW, Which Vehicles Are The HOTTEST In YOUR Area?
One of the things you learn as you travel around the country is that not every region is the same nor are the same cars as popular.

00R, 009 and I have this conversation all the time and when we chew the fat, we learn that there are different trending products in NJ vs. TX vs. CA.

Some are easy to understand like Tesla's in Ca, but there are always surprises...

So tonight we're calling on you to tell us what is hot right now in your area.

Tell us the trending vehicles and where you're located and if any ones surprise you with their popularity...

Spies, discuss!

Pretty obvious for Silicon Valley. Yesterday on the highway I was driving behind a Model 3 and noticed Model 3 behind me. Must look weird having three of the same car in a row. If you go to Downtown Palo Alto, it seems like 1 in 5 cars is a Tesla.

A decade ago it was the Prius you would see everywhere.

That's because the wealthy former Prius owners have upgraded to Model 3's.

There is minimal subsituation effect from IC cars (3-series, etc) to Tesla's.

Its my theory that the EV market is a fringe of former Hybrid owners and once they drive an EV, they will migrate back to hybrids because of the inconveniences of driving EV's.

Silicon Valley is all about being a hatefully intolerant socialist who needs to pretend to be morally superior all while espousing that morals are wrong. Thus, they drive Teslas because they think that guys in F150 are getting kicked in the groin with every Tesla sold.

The top cars people are trading in for a Model 3 are the BMW 3 series, Honda Accord, Honda Civic, Nissan Leaf, and the Prius. So 3/5 are ICE cars. It's expanding the market for EVs to some degree.

Also, everyone I know that has an EV (a lot of people) will never go back to ICE cars. Several did come from hybrids and even those that have EVs with limited range find an EV far more convenient.

I wonder if Elon will still be sleeping with workers in the factory.

Tesla's coming for the rest of the industry if SV is any indication. Every day there are tons more cars on the road. When I got the S, it was really rare and unique for years. With the 3, everyone seems to have one. There are now 6 in the office building I work at, and it is not a large building.

G Class Mercedes has replaced S Class and soccer mom minivans as the vehicle of choice in NYC suburbia.

In SoCal, seeing a lot of Model 3's. New Alfas are pretty popular as well. More and more X2's,

Audi’s are everywhere in my area of Northern NJ. Especially Q5s and Q3s. Q7s have a strong presence too. And the Merc GLS tends to be the soccer mom SUV of choice.

North York Toronto lots of McClarens, Lambos, Ferraris, Porsches cruising Younge Street. Mercs and BMW's are a dime a dozen. One good reason to make sure your auto insurance is insured for much higher than the legal minimum as it would be quite easy to do $$$ damage in an accident here.

Lots of pickups. F150 and Silverado are king.

Crossovers. But it's a mix rather than dominant leaders.

CamCords are everywhere.

Same, except the pickups are GMC.

Hong Kong has a insane amount of Teslas despite the 25% tariff. Probably the biggest market for them after SoCal and why they are building a new factory in China. Shanghai is full of the usual Germans and a huge market for Buicks which get parked up front with the S class and other prestige nameplates.

Honda Accord seems much more popular in NYC area than Camry's. Wonder if the sales numbers prove that out?

Escalades are on the wane in a big way though. Lots of new Lincoln Navigators - its the 'private driver' (i.e the person with their own driver) vehicle of choice it seems.

Here, the new Accord is getting walloped by the Camry. It isn't even #2.

Oddly enough it is Aston Martin. A white Vanquish seen today. A dark grey Rapide in front of me on my drove home yesterday. A Casino Royale Grey DBS bought by a collector in the neighbourhood. An new yellow Vantage pulled over for excessive speeding on the news. And a silver Vantage on the road this week. Not big numbers, but like the La Ferrari I saw (first one ever in real life) 10 minutes from my house, they stick out like a sore thumb on the road.

Definitely the Maybach S650

They are about as rare as hens teeth - yet I actually see two of them everyday.

As far as the Camry Vs the Accord - it depends on the type of dealer you have near you for each. THere are still more Old Line Honda dealers around than Toyota.

And one of them is parked next to your CT6, Phantom, and Mulsanne.

Matt - you are WAY OFF

Do not have a Phantom or a Mulsanne - and the CT6 while still in the family is no longer mine as well.

Oh - By the way - I am not actually talking about MY car =- turns out there are two OTHER Maybachs like mine in the area - AND one owner traded in his old Phantom for it.

Tom, you've several times said you were getting your boss' hand-me-down Phantom and also that you were talking prices on a Mulsanne.

In the DC Maryland Virginia area it is Teslas everywhere, some Bolt EVs, almost no Leafs. Also lots of VW/Audi vehicles, but that's because the US HQ is here, many employees drive a company car.

Oh, and jacked up, off-road, zombie apocalypse ready Wrangler JK and Rubicons. People love these, commute to werk in them, barely fit inside the parking garage.
