Model 3 Owner Pulled Over By Police For Center Console Display

We’ve officially arrived at a point where car-related technology has surpassed some people’s expectations. Pretty soon, we’re going to get pulled over for driving without having our hands on the steering wheel, as not all people are familiar with the semi-autonomous capabilities of modern cars.

Oh well, at least this particular exchange between a police officer and the driver of a Tesla Model 3 was pleasant and overall very polite, unlike others we’ve seen.

Was following a PG county police vehicle yesterday on the BW Pkwy that was weaving through heavy traffic without using any turn signals or having the emergency lights on, cutting people off, speeding, slowing down, straddling both lanes, driving in the emergency lane, a total recklessness. Then he took an exit. The Ford Interceptor had LPRs so maybe he was looking for someone but come on, there are better ways to do that.

Best not to assume. Simply let it go.

Tesla (Not Elon) - was producing the Model 3 to be a mass market car in fairly low price ranges (Starting at $35,000). WHile they eventually NEVER produced the base cars - and still do not - they still had to engineer it so that it MIGHT have been possible to sell the car at the low prices - so the interior appointments are stark - sparse - and CHEAP.

Right wasn't that the point of the Model 3 - an "everyman's EV". If you want the luxury/upscale features & content, then you basically add to the vehicle options.

But really, why couldn't GM or Ford or Chrysler made PHEV or/and EV using the Cruze or Fusion or 200 for basis of design? Except for the Tesla coupe, all the other models are fairly basic looking vehicles.

@dumpsty You are correct, but in the socialist world, you sell deposits for nearly a half million people for the $35K car and then when the car comes to production you double the price and sell to people who are not on the reservations lists because saying "f" off to them is perfectly OK. Let's not mention that every other car manufacturer that takes pre-orders makes sure those orders are satisfied first.

The interior doesn't feel cheap at all, especially on the white variant. In fact, aesthetically and feel-wise it tops a BMW 3-series or Audi A4, both of which I have had as rentals quite frequently.
