If You Have To Have That Mercedes-AMG V12 You Better Go Get It Before It Is Too Late

Mercedes-AMG has confirmed that its big V12 engine will soon be killed off but that its V8s will live on thanks to electrification.

AMG boss Tobias Moers told Go Auto at the Paris Auto Show that the V12 will die when production of the current S65 ends.

“So we are going to move the S65 out of our portfolio,” he said.

Fortunately, AMG’s twin-turbo V8 isn’t going anywhere, meaning enthusiasts will still be able to get their AMG fix.

The Mercedes V-12 is a twin turbo - and while it is still nice(and I have one) - it is not what a naturally aspirated V-12 is fully like. Still - it is silky compared to the AMG.

You know what is even smoother than a V12? Electric motors.

I use my car for LONG trips=- and the electric motors are silky because they are wasting time waiting for a charging station

Until there is a way to easily and quickly recharge the batteries - EVs still remain a poor choice for many reasons

While the AMG v-12 will be discontinued- it appears that they will continue to have it available for the Maybach for a while.

Correct, production will continue, just not for AMG, Maybach will have it and Pagani also.
